Not an expert, but if your ratio was 7.7 then you have an RT3 issue since your ratio should be over 20. Only way to take care of this would be to take T3.

Subject: Waht can cause feeling hypo while on Erfa Thyroid?

Hi,I have been on Erfa Thyroid since mid January 2010 and before that on syntethic T4 since 2001. I was extremely hypo, cold feet and hands, brainfog, sleeping all the time, overweight and so on, before starting the Erfa Thyroid. The change from T4 only to Erfa has been very smoot and easy for me and I feel like a new (better) person. My dose is now 3,5 G Erfa (2,5 + 1) and 30mg HC (10+10+5+5).I am also taking D-vitamin, Iron, B12 and some other vitamis. My problem is that I have been feeling very hypo with cold feet and hands and also very tired this last week. Also my basal temp has gone down from 36,5celsius to 35,9celsius, and I certainly feel this.I raised the Tyroid dose only 5 days ago. What can cause this? The only change is that I have to take antiflammatory pain killers, can they cause this, or the inflammation itself?I have been thinking about taking a bit more HC, but I feel the dose is quite high already. Or perhaps I should take more Erfa Thyroid? My lab results in November indicated a possible RT3_T3 problem, ratio 7.7, could this be the problem?

Thanks Terry, I guess I have to try and reach my doc. She is very good, but very hard to get in contact with. I fear I have a problem in the conversion of T4 to T3.

mONICA:

I know next to nothing about RT3 but I HAVE experimented since i got erfa

and discovered that to have relatively high enough temps and stop being

cold...i need an extraordinarily higher amount of both.

TO KEEP ME FROM FREEZING, WITH COLD HANDS AND FEET ETC.

I gradually worked my way up with small increases...and i suspect it's

because years ago the Dr said i lacked intrinsic factor and ALSO have a

hyper mobile intestinal transit ......that cause me to loose the meds

before they are actually completely absorbed?

perhaps your anti inflamitory is causing that problem ....but if you need

that too...i guess the only resort would be to do like i did and

experiment with either closer in time doses...and/or slightly larger

doses.

I dose 4 X a day. and the first 2 are very close to each other.
