Guest guest
Jackie - thanks so much taking the time to explain the differences to me. My husband has been diagnosed with chronic urticaria and has had it for 6 months or so. He takes Allegra and Pepcid in the morning, Singular in the afternoon, and Zyrtec, Pepcid and Doxepin before bedtime. He was symptom free on these meds for about 3 months, then the allergist told us to stop the Singular for 2 weeks, then if no symptoms, decrease the Zyrtec to 1/2 pill. He stopped the Singular for 2 weeks with only an occasional small hive, but when we cut the Zyrtic in half for 2 days, they came back with a vengence! He's back on all the medicine again but it doesn't seem to be able to control it now. We have to get back to the allergist - voddoo docs that they are! It is VERY Frustrating!!!!!!!!!! I feel so bad for him and don't know what to do to help him. Well, thanks again for the info and thanks for listening. Barb

Guest guest
Dear Jackie - scary trip to the allergist today with my husband. He found that his hemoglobin dropped and his lymphocyte count went up and without telling us he ordered a blood test for Lymphoma screening ( we saw the paper when the nurse was drawing the blood.) Ever hear of the connection? All that I could think about was your explanation that the hives can even be caused by cancer. We have to wait for the results until Monday. Will be on pins and needles till then. Thanks again, Barb
Guest guest
Dear Barb-- We will be thinking and praying for good results. When my hives started they did TONS of blood work for all kinds of things, everytime I went to the Rheumatologist, they drew 10 tubes at a time. It is so nerve wracking until you get the results, so please try to take some deep breaths and relax, keep positive thoughts--we will too! Please let us know how his tests turn out. hugs--Ann >From: slipsb@... >Reply-To: urticaria >To: urticaria >Subject: Re: explanation of masto vs CU for " slipsb " Barb >Date: Thu, 3 Jan 2002 23:40:03 EST > >Dear Jackie - scary trip to the allergist today with my husband. Guest guest
Hi Barb. Sorry you and your husband are going through such a scary thing, but remember when you are dealing with CU, the doctor is going to make sure he rules out everything he can think of as a potential cause. At one point, because of some weird results of hormone level testing, a pituitary tumor was thought to be the cause of my CU. Thankfully it wasn't! Sometimes levels of different things in the blood do fluctuate, which may either be just 'one of those things' or it may be a clue as to what is going on. I don't know much about cancers, nor have any info regarding them and CU, so can't offer much help there. I did do a quick search and found this case study of a patient with CU/angioedema who was found to have lymphoma: http://www.hopkins-allergy.org/case_studies/viewpoint.html?viewpointid=106 & casei\ d=162 Hang in there, and please let us know what the test results are. We'll be thinking positive thoughts and praying for you! Air hugs, Jackie Life is tough, but I'm tougher. _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com
