Guest guest
I don't smoke, have never been even a moderate drinker, (maybe six drinks (alcohoic) and haven't had 1 single drink in over 30 years. I have never had a blood transfusion, nor have I ever had a dirty needle to my knowledge. The only contact with blood I have ever had was mopping up bloody noses when I was a teacher and as a teenager was involved with helping with a very bloody wreck. It was in Montana and it took 1 1/2 hrs. for the ambulance to get there. There were 11 people injured and bleeding. I helped hold compresses on wounds. I can remember coming away from it very bloody. However I am 59 years old and that is a long time ago. ===== God has put something noble and good into every heart which his hand created.----Mark Twain. Guest guest
Some times it takes up to twenty years before they find out you have HepC. edajane, I also know sometimes there is no answer to where you might have gotten this. KEEP THE FAITH, maybe they will have a cure that has no side effects.

Guest guest
Hello and welcome! Organ swelling is common in Stills, so please do not be alarmed. Elevated liver functions are also " normal " (although , define " normal " with us!!). As for the insomnia, unfortunately, that is one of the nasty side effects of prednisone--along with many other atrocious things. Since you are afraid to take anything that is " addictive " try checking an over the counter sleep aid. I believe there are some out there that are non-habit forming. Also, you may want to try Melatonin. You can get this over the counter as well. Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland, and is involved in regulating the sleeping and waking cycles, among other processes. Melatonin supplements can be used by people who have chronic insomnia and it is not addictive. Hope this helps! Chris greywolf70@... i forgot does anyone else have severe insomnia from the prednisone, if so what works for you, i was on sonata, which worked, but its addictive, and im an x-addict alcohalic, so i had to stop takin it. but nothing else ive tried has worked. i dunno, any imput would help, id love eight hours of sleep. Guest guest
When do you take the predisone? Taking it at night makes the insomnia much worse for me; it makes me feel agitated and restless. When I had to take it at night, I was taking a low dose of lorazepam, but that also has an addiction problem. I guess the best thing to do would be to talk to your doc and see if there are meds you could be on that would allow you to lower your prednisone / or whether he thought switching the timing would be good. You may have luck with pure Melatonin. If you have depression it might make that worse, however, it does help with sleep. Guest guest
Wouldn't the souring pot resemble a ceacum or some of the other organs that grain eating animals have? ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Chisholm, Nate Sent: Friday, January 19, 2007 12:40 PM Subject: RE: Bread and will's response Will, I don't eat bread just because it is a pain in the butt to do it right. But I've been thinking lately that traditionally soured dough is probably our ancestors response to the problems with grain. Wouldn't a traditional bread be a better solution to eating grain than most others? Isn't that the solution our ancestors came to for this problem and might it not be wise to defer to them? What are your thoughts and what sort of carb foods do you eat? After all we can't eat raw beef every meal. Nate ________________________________ From: <mailto:%40> [mailto: <mailto:%40> ] On Behalf Of Virginia Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2007 2:38 PM <mailto:%40> Subject: Newbie, Breads Question Hi, I'm new to this, just reading Nourishing Traditions now. I'm not finding much on bread in there (just started reading it, but there are really very few bread recipes) so I thought I'd just ask for instant gratification. What is the general feeling on breads? I make my own using mostly whole wheat flour. There are obviously no preservatives, the bread tends to go bad within a week. And I use natural sweeteners. Are there reasons to stay away from them by NT standards? Thanks! ~Virginia
Guest guest
Deb, I forgot..If I take OMEGS 3's I break out with pimples not always on my face.that take months to go away. I was told the reason may be that I already have enough. The dry eye bulletin has a wonderful eye drop that has iodine in it. I did not use it long enough to see if it worked on me because within 2 days after using it I got 2 pimples on my nose..Iodine does this to me also. They advertise the goggles to wear for dry eyes that everyone loves but I did not notice any improvement. I am on disability and there is a cap on the amount of medicine you can get. Restasis is too expensive for me with all the meds I take. I also did not want to put a drug used to treat cancer in my eyes. Hugs again. cooky
