Guest guest
– Did the doc do a culture? If he/she didn’t you may well continue to have yeast since without a culture the doc cannot know for certain that yeast ‘infection’ is present, what strain of yeast it is if present and have a sensitivities test on the strain to see what cures it. If you have recurring yeast, you POSITIVELY should demand the culture, strain identification and drug indentification. If this is a yeast resisitant to standard yeast medications, it is not going to respond to this med. Can you NOT take that med until your culture comes back? You could be doing more harm than good. Dusty hi group i went to my gyn dr today well its looks like i got once again another yeast vaginitis and i also got yeast mastitis too at the same time on my breast and he still has my diagnosis as vv well he gave me fluconazole and another medine too, is it normal for woman with vv to get repeated yeast vaginitis and repeated mastitis too your truly jennifer

Guest guest
… The doc looking under the microscope IS NOT A CULTURE. In a description of vaginal culture from the internet “ During a vaginal examination, a scraping of mucus and cells is taken from the endocervix (the opening of the uterus). Smears are placed on slides or culture media (or both) depending on the suspected cause of infection. The specimens are observed for growth and examined under a microscope. Special stains or biochemical reagents may be used to identify specific organisms in certain types of culture tests.” This culture requires SEVERAL DAYS and sometimes longer growth to prove or disprove any problem with the endocervical smear and to identify the strain of yeast if any present in infection overgrowth quantities, and to also identify the medicine while will cure it. Your doc looking into a microscope WHILE YOU ARE THERE for the visit, is a wet mount and its accuracy depends on your docs diagnostic abilities with a microscope. A wet mount (done while you are in the office) CANNOT identify the strain of yeast you have (could be a rare yeast that doesn’t respond to standard meds) and it CANNOT identify which medicine will fix the problem. This can only be done in a laboratory AFTER the culture has grown out any infections/disease grown in the culture medium. See http://www.webmd.com/hw/womens_conditions/hw6026.asp At this site, pay close attention to the WHAT TO THINK ABOUT section in which it tells you that culture is simply the best way to identify problems. Culturing is a medical necessity when yeast becomes chronic or prolonged. Good grief, why would a good doc allow you to suffer so long when you can have the culture grown, strains and or various infections identified and a sensitivities tst done to identify the best med to treat you. The doc can ask the lab to rule out yeast, trich and other types of infections by culture.
