Guest guest
Hi Sheri, Welcome to the group. Regarding breast enhancement, are you not dealing with enough already? I don't know about your specific disease, (I have RA) but any stress can set off a flare. Surgery is a huge assault on the body. Sometimes it is necessary, but I certainly would not go under the knife unless it was dire. Of course, you and I may not have the same criteria considering what is necessary, so it comes to individual choice. Since you asked, I vote no ;-) Take care, Ute At 07:42 PM 4/22/2008, you wrote: >I was going to get a breast enhancement, I was wondering if this was >safe? Guest guest
I had a full tummy tuck, breast lift and "gummy" silicone implants, liposuction with Dr.Bello on February 9th.Today is my 3 week anniversary.DO NOT think this is a ''walk in the park" spur of the moment decision.I am still not walking fully erect and unable to drive, wering a full compression garment(think a size 32 bra if you wear a 36 normally. It is so tight it leaves impression marks and the girdle is right above the knee to above your bust.It took 2 nurses, now my mom and sister to get me into it.Their are hook and eye closures on both sides from lower thigh to chest and then an outside zipper. There is a crotch opening allowing you to pee/poop.You must wear this 24 hours a day except for showering.Thois must be worn for 1 month.I am counting the last 7 days until I can switch to a looser garment(think Spanx) lycra/nylon.My mom and I have an appt. at Nordstrom's next week. You must wear a tight bra for another 6 months 24 hours a day to support surgery. My stomach is still bruised and sore and I am unable to lift more than 5-10 pounds. It feels like your stomach is falling out when you remove the girdle to shower. If I had a normal job like teaching, nurse, etc there is no way at this point I could do it.Too weak, tiring to stand more than 10 minutes or walk further than my house length, stairs are hard. The good news now-lol-Dr.Bello has been operating for more than 27 years! Dr.Luque trained under him and only has 2 or 3 years experience. This was my initial reason for choosing Dr.Bello,a no brainer for me.27 YEARS OR 27+ months ? Dr. Bello does not have a website and prefers phone over emails. He told me he prefers an old fashined conservative approach.Every single time that I called him he answered personall y or returned my call within a few hours. He made me feel fully confident in his abilities. He came by my room 3 times a day every day in the hospital. He made sure that my every question or need was addressed. He originally suggested a 5 day stay in the hospital, but we extended it to 8 days because I didn't feel up to walking, flying home etc. until then.I recommend him highly and my mother is thinking of having a face lift done by him this Summer based on my positive experience.A FEW NOTES ON THE SURGERY ITSELF--Day # 1,Dr.Bello drew markings on my body with a pen for surgery and took pictures for placement. His associate-anesthesiologist who has worked with him for over 25 years did a verbal consult and checked my blood tests(you do these at your home doctor's;if your clotting is not sufficient you must wait to have surgery until they are up to par)You fax these to Dr.Bello.This avoids you flying to Mexico and finding your bloodwork prevents you from having surgery! The day of surgery the anesthesiologist effortlessly (I have very tiny veins,a hard stick) inserted my hand i.v and an epidural for the stomach -tummy tuck part. You are awake, but sedated,no pain,a little tugging sensation-similar to a c-section, and then for the breast you are put under general anesthesia.Dr.Bello said it took 7 hours total. He also did inner thigh, upper arm, hip and flanks lipo. during that time frame.I remember waking up in recovery shivering and a blanket was given. The first 2 days are a blur slept mostly and was given percocet type pills crushed every 4 hours for pain.Pain was minimal while taking pain pills.A catheter was in place for the first 2 days.No moving for the first 48 hours and girdle was immediately placed before leaving surgery. On the 3rd day I started feeling nauseas and stopped all pain meds and got a shot for nausea.I did not feel the need for any pain pills after that. The 3rd day I felt like my body was falling out/off had to cup my breasts and assume a ''caveman like'' position to walk to the toilet. My bowel movements were every 2 days hile there.By the 5th day I started to feel alive again, but nowhere near ready to go home. The nurses fed mr lfull liquids through a straw the first 2 days as it hurt to lift my chest.I remained on full liquids the 8 days I was there.I needed to use a wheelchair to the van and needed Ernesto to lift me into the front seat.I FELT 105 WITH A DOWAGER'S HUMP TRYING TO WALK-=LOL.I got a wheelchair curbside at the airport and requested a ''aisle wheelchair''the flight attendant wheels you in the airplane to your seat.I was only able to shuffle a few feet comfortably. My flight was non-stop to Wash.D.C and I took 1/2 a pain pill on flight. My mom stayed with me for a week after returning home to feed, cook, laundry etc.Would I do it again? It is still too early to shout yes, but my breasts are full(oh yeah, you will be extremely swollen by a few lbs and inches for 3 months Dr.Bello said) I was a 38 DD before surgery, alot of excess saggy skin, and I will probably be a D when the swelling goes down.I truly look like Dolly Parton right now.My 11 year old son's friend said that he had an inappropriate question for my son.He asked if your mom's boobs got bigger;he saw me in my girdle(I wear a light weight nightshirt over it).My son said"yeah she had a lift and implants" and his friend said ''what;s that ?'' and my son said I'm not sure but she looks like Pamela !His friend said maybe she'll go to the pool alot with you this Summer-lol.Anyway for the first time in 25 years I can lay flat on my back(no sleeping on stomache for awhile) and my boobs don't fall off my sides.Nice.I hope this answers a lot of questions.i will post before and after in June when swelling goes away. Guest guest
Hi, Thanks so much for your indepth report on your plastic surgery. Congratulations on what appears to be a huge success! I can only imagine a small part of what you're going through. I have had a lot of plastic surgery (lipo all over, laser face peel, tummy tuck, breast reduction, facial injections, eyelid tuck-all separately) so I've been there and done that, too. I had sleeve surgery 1-1/2 mos. ago and am down to 165 from 184. I'm thrilled to be in a size 12 now but know I will reduce even more. I've given a lot of thought to having plastic surgery in Mexicali, perhaps some more facial work and more lipo, a nip here and a tuck there. I've had all my surgery done in La Jolla and it is very expensive. The doctors only do a small bit each time, probably to increase the fees. They would never have done all you had in one "sitting". I've read about Dr. Bello and his fine work and would not hesitate to go to him. Questions: Is he at the Almater Hospital? Did he offer you an opportunity to go to an after surgery place for continuing care ie. a week or two? Can you give us an idea of what the costs are? Good luck and remember that each day will be getting better. At the end, you will look like Pamela . Imagine being called a Hottie! Guest guest
, Thank you so much for your brutally honest, detailed explanation of your experience. It really lets you know not to go into it lightly. I have been considering to have a tummy tuck & implants once I reach my goal and am somewhat stable. Can you tell what hurts the most, implants, tummy tuck or lipo? Would you do anything differently? It is still too early to shout yes, but my breasts are full(oh yeah, you will be extremely swollen by a few lbs and inches for 3 months Dr.Bello said) I was a 38 DD before surgery, alot of excess saggy skin, and I will probably be a D when the swelling goes down.I truly look like Dolly Parton right now.My 11 year old son's friend said that he had an inappropriate question for my son.He asked if your mom's boobs got bigger;he saw me in my girdle(I wear a light weight nightshirt over it).My son said " yeah she had a lift and implants " and his friend said ''what;s that ?'' and my son said I'm not sure but she looks like Pamela !His friend said maybe she'll go to the pool alot with you this Summer-lol.Anyway for the first time in 25 years I can lay flat on my back(no sleeping on stomache for awhile) and my boobs don't fall off my sides.Nice.I hope this answers a lot of questions.i will post before and after in June when swelling goes away. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS ! SUSAN
