It has been two weeks now since I started supplementing with 1200 of potassium

and half teaspoon salt with water two times a day. The salt I am taking is

called " Maldon salt " , is the only sea salt I can find easily where I live, I

hope it is O.K. The potassium is slow release and I am taking to caps of 600

each.

These were my lab results before starting supplementation:

Sodium: 138.0 mEq/L (135-145)

Potassium 3.96 mEq/L (3.5-5)

I guess it would be about time to test again, however I had an stomach upset

last week and I was vomiting and having diarrhea, besides not eating and not

supplementing properly. The stomach upset was because of a virus (with fever)

and only lasted a couple of

days.

Therefore I wonder if it won't be better to wait a bit longer to test, perhaps

one more week?

Also I have swollen a bit, it feels as if I have more cellulitis and the legs

feel heavier… I suspect this is water retention. Is this O.K or it indicates

something is not quite right with the doses of salt/potassium I'm taking?

Thanks,

The reality is the two eweeks testing is not an arbitrary number, it is

for your SAFTY that I recommend it, high serum potasium can kill people.

So I htink it is wise to NOT put this off., Potassium and sodium change

rapidly in the body and the bidy strives to normalize them quickly, so

if it has been 3 days since illness, I would not put off testing.
