Guest guest
Liz, I will see what I can help with, and then someone else can chime in on anything else. First off, you have Hashimoto's (TBO is 17) since you have thyroid antibodies. Your RT3 is 10.34 and it needs to be over 20. So you will need T3 only. You ferritin has come up, but you need to get it to the 70-90 range, so keep taking your iron. You will have to go up on the T3 slowly because the ferritin is low. Your FT3 is low and also suggests hypothyroid. So, continue with 150-200mg of elemental iron, wait for your saliva results because you want your cortisol levels to be stable before adding in the T3. Hope this helps!Terri From: Whitfield Sent: Friday, April 23, 2010 6:07 PM To: RT3_T3 Subject: New Labs just came in/need some help interpertating them Here are my recent labs, please help me with these and what they mean? Guest guest
Hashimotos is when your body has developed antibodies against your thyroid. I don't know it it ever goes into a true remission but is treatable by suppressing your thyroid function with thyroid meds. DONT let them take it out! Guest guest
Thanks Kitty it is good to know. Did you have any tests besides the antibody test? I have pain when swallowing on my left side ....I have it on and off. Matter of fact, I went my primary because of it and he said it could be a muscle sprain. I didn't do anything as I have been in bed alot due to not feeling well. Anyways, it went away...and came back yesterday. Does this cause pain? Also, if my TBO says 17 (the normal range is between 0-34 does it have to be over 34 to have it?? I am so confused when it comes to stuff like this. Guest guest
My antibodies were high I think, over 150. I had a lot of pain, difficulty swallowing/talking, compression of my throat <always felt like a tight turtleneck>. Gluten is a big trigger for antibodies, I am EXTREMELY gluten intolerant. The antibodies can come and go so you can have good days and really bad days. I had major hypothyroid symptoms even though my levels were 'normal'... I was much less informed when all of that started though so I don't have labs or anything to share. I was diagnosed with Hashi's in 2003, the doc who diagnosed me was actually an allergist who noticed my thyroid was enlarged from across the room! This was after a year of complaining to my GP of depression and not feeling right... but thyroid was normal :/ I was also told it was my muscles in my neck.... I guess we should lay off weight lifting with our heads.... Guest guest
If ANY antibodies show up, you have Hashimoto's. Most doctors will try to tell you that you don't because it's in range, but in reality your body shouldn't be making any antibodies. Would you tell someone that you are just a little bit pregnant? No, you are or you aren't....same with the Hashimoto's. And it could be low because your body is in remission, etc... So yes you DO have it.
Guest guest
It could be sore due to probably having a goiter or nodule on the thyroid, which most are nothing. But getting on the right thyroid meds, etc...will shrink the nodule, which will help your throat to feel better. And your antibodies are slowly increasing. With time it will probably be full blown and over the range. Your body is struggling. Guest guest
So if your being treated does it still progress? Being I have low ferritin and adrenal issues, I have to wait to go on thyroid meds, if I understand that. So it will be much longer suffering until I get the other things under control? Being I have low ferritin and adrenal issues, I have to wait to go on thyroid meds, if I understand that. So it will be much longer suffering until I get the other things under control? It could be sore due to probably having a goiter or nodule on the thyroid, which most are nothing. But getting on the right thyroid meds, etc...will shrink the nodule, which will help your throat to feel better. And your antibodies are slowly increasing. With time it will probably be full blown and over the range. Your body is struggling. All know is I am not feeling good. I had this test 3 times. In Oct the TBO was 7, in March it was 10, now it's 17. My throat on the left side is killing me and hurts to swallow. I just took some motrin to see if it helps the pain. I had the same thing a few weeks ago thinking it was a muscle sprain, according ito my primary, but it came back again. Guest guest
Oh another question.... the other antibody test antithyroglobulin that was <20....which I believe is ok? Right? So if that is showing nothing and one is what would that mean? It is my impression that once optimal it should keep it in remission. You may have to tweak it from time to time once you are optimal. It could be sore due to probably having a goiter or nodule on the thyroid, which most are nothing. Guest guest
But antibodies are antibodies. If you have one or 19...it's still antibodies. Terri From: Whitfield Sent: Saturday, April 24, 2010 12:34 AM To: RT3_T3 Subject: Re: New Labs just came in/need some help interpertating them Isn't <20 good though for the tgab? range is 0-40. Hard to tell because they are saying it's under 20. It could be 19 for all you know. Terri From: Whitfield Sent: Saturday, April 24, 2010 12:07 AM To: RT3_T3 Subject: Re: New Labs just came in/need some help interpertating them Oh another question.... the other antibody test antithyroglobulin that was <20....which I believe is ok? Right? So if that is showing nothing and one is what would that mean? It is my impression that once optimal it should keep it in remission. You may have to tweak it from time to time once you are optimal. The experts on here will know more... Terri From: Whitfield Sent: Friday, April 23, 2010 11:56 PM To: RT3_T3 Subject: Re: New Labs just came in/need some help interpertating them So if your being treated does it still progress? If ANY antibodies show up, you have Hashimoto's. Most doctors will try to tell you that you don't because it's in range, but in reality your body shouldn't be making any antibodies.
