Help finding a doctor experienced treating Rheumatoid Arthritis with antibiotics

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the group and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in

May 2008. As of right now it's relatively mild and only in my hands

but getting worse. I'm 29 years old and in good shape. My current

rheumy has me on plaquenil and after doing reading and research,

primarily through `The New Arthritis Breakthrough' by Henry Scammell,

I'm very interested in trying antibiotic therapy.

I visited my rheumy today and he shot down the whole business and

said he has no experience with antibiotic therapy. He was willing to

give me a script for Minocycline but he is not versed in how to

effectively use it. It was very frustrating to hear him basically

say the whole business is bs and doesn't work.

I am interested in finding a doctor as close to Austin, TX as

possible experienced with this type of therapy for RA. My current

rheumy said he is familiar with the 9 other rheumys in Austin and

none of them believe in this therapy.

I was hoping someone in this group might know of a list of doctors

that are experienced in this or better yet, someone who lives in

Austin or Houston that has a doctor they are currently using you

could refer me to.
