Hi , I hope you grabbed the prescription! That's more than a lot of MDs are willing to do. I'm newly diagnosed as well. I had my first RA flare at the beginning of May (this year)--- it's mostly in my hands, knees, ankles, feet, but elbows are the worst. I started by reading " The New Arthritis Breakthrough " . I also got a lot out of " Solving the Puzzling Problem of Arthritis " . My MD is not familiar with the antibiotic protocol either, but he was willing to order baseline testing from TARCI (www.tarci.net) and start me out on 50 mg Doxy, MWF. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi , That is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Doctors who prescribe antibiotics for immune diseases are spread thin and wide across the country. Most of us have spent useless dollars flying to see them, renting cars and staying in hotels just to get a prescription for an antibiotic. So, I hope you took 's advice and grabbed the script. The best you can do to save yourself a lot of angst, is to find a doc that is open. Read and print all you can on the subject and present it to him/her. If your doc is willing to learn with you, then you are a lucky man. Insist on being treated the way you want to be with antibiotics and don't stop your search till you find the right doc willing to work with you. You are in charge of what you want to put into your body. Don't let anyone take that right away from you. Only you know how you feel. Arrogant docs need not apply. And welcome to the group. This group is fabulous and full of intelligent, warm and wonderful people to help you. Stay with it and I wish you well. It seems a number of people in the group are doing MWF with 100mg. Does everyone feel this is a pretty solid start for the therapy? Also, thanks everyone who has emailed me info on doctors, greatly appreciated!

Yesterday, my joints were quite sore, and I tried to take heart that it was an indication that the Doxy was already working (Herx). On pg 162 in " Solving the Puzzling Problem of Arthritis " , there is a good section discussing the initial dose and timing of the antibiotics, and explanations as to why it might be a good idea for many patients to start at a lower dose, gradually increasing with time & tolerance. This book sounds like it might have the information I'm looking for. Hopefully Bookstop or the like carries it and I can get it asap. Thanks for the recommendation.
