Beth those labs still look hypo to me. While on T3 only we need a bit

over range FT3 to compensate for very low T4 levels.

Val,

What would be an optimal T3 level? Should I try to raise T3? When I go much higher than I am, my heart rate goes too high. I am seeing my doctor on Thursday and was thinking of trying Nature-Throid b/c of heart issues with Cytomel. Would that possibly help the hypoT?

Do these labs indicate that my RT3 has cleared?

Thanks so much for your help.

The RT3 has cleared as oyu had a breakthrough but do oyu knwo for

certain what caused your RT3? Has that been corrected? Many of us never

do find out what caused our RT3 but when we try to go back to naturla it

returns, so though it is worth trying in your case, I woudl be cautious

and retest RT3 after a month on naturla ot see if it is rising. Often a

high pulse on T3 onyl is a sign os somethign NOT right besides the T3

simply causing a high pulse. That somethign is probably the cause of

your highRT3 in the first place. Usually it is weak adrenals or low

ferritin/iron. I woudl also recommend a full iron panel before going

back to NT.

Val,

I am not certain what caused my RT3. If I switch to NT and have labs done a month later and find that, in fact, my RT3 problem returns, will it take another 12 weeks to clear?

Also, when I say a high pulse rate -- I mean high for me -- lower 80's. My ferrtin level seems good -right? I wouldn't think I have adrenal problem as I have good energy and I run about 6 miles 6 days per week. I wouldn't think I would have the stamina to do that if I had an adrenal problem, right? When I increase T3, my pulse increases, but so does my temp.

Thanks,

Beth

HMM as you aree certainly more athletic than most of us oyu shoudl not

have a pulse over 80. I would go for a complete iron panel just to be

certain ther eis nothing there affecting this, but yeah it pretty much

too me the better part of 2-3 months ot get back feeling normal when I

tried to return to natural thyroid and my RT3 came back.

Hi Beth! Well, I just wanted to say thanks for posting this! I am at week eleven and feeling like nothing is changing, so this gives me hope. Before you cleared, and while you were at 115mcg, did you feel good, sleep well ect.? Or was it not until you cleared?

I think your labs look good, especially if you feel good. I was surprised your free t3 was not higher. Was that taken while still on 115mcg.

I hope this is the beginning of the end for you! Please keep us posted. S

Hi all,

I am at 14 weeks and think I am a at the start of a "success story". I think I cleared about 10 days ago -- I had been up to 115 mcg of T3 per day. Had a day with racing heart and think that was clearing day. Since then, can only tolerate 65-75 mcg T3 per day and temps are higher -- although not perfect. Basal temps go between 97.1 -97.6 -- last 3days have been 97.6 - 97.8 (am currently ovulating). Temps do

rise gradually through the day to 98.6 - 98.9 by mid-afternoon. They gradually fall to 98.2 - 98.4 by bedtime. I feel good, sleeping well, metabolism seems good, energy is good, mood is good.

I just got latest labs back (takenn 3 days after clearing). How do these look? Should I be concerned that basals don't get any higher? I know TSH is not supposed to really mean anything anymore -- but this seems awfully low.

Week 5 of T3 only: Week 13 of T3 only:

Ferritin - 70 Ferritin: 75 (stopped vit. w/ iron 7 days prior)

T4 Total : 3.8 (4.5-12.5) T4 Total: 1.0 (4.5 - 12.5)

T3 Free: 238 (230-420) T3 Free: 330 (230- 420)

T3 Reverse: 11 (11-32) T3 Reverse: 3 (11-32)

T3 Free/ T3 Reverse ratio: 21.6 T3 Free/T3 Reverse ratio: 110

TSH: 1.55 (.40 - 4.50) TSH: .01 (.40 - 4.50)

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

Beth

So, if this is the case, how do we know when we are on too much t3 after cleareance? We can't rely on high pulse? Thanks S

The RT3 has cleared as oyu had a breakthrough but do oyu knwo for certain what caused your RT3? Has that been corrected? Many of us never do find out what caused our RT3 but when we try to go back to naturla it returns, so though it is worth trying in your case, I woudl be cautious and retest RT3 after a month on naturla ot see if it is rising. Often a high pulse on T3 onyl is a sign os somethign NOT right besides the T3 simply causing a high pulse. That somethign is probably the cause of your highRT3 in the first place. Usually it is weak adrenals or low ferritin/iron. I woudl also recommend a full iron panel before going back to NT.-- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WVhttp://www.stopthet hyroidmadness. com/http://health. groups.yahoo. com/group/ NaturalThyroidHo rmonesADRENALS/http://health. groups.yahoo. com/group/ RT3_T3/http://groups. yahoo.com/ group/HypoPets/

I always think labs confirming your thyroid status are helpful. I have

seen folks that felt well wiht WAY to high FT3 and also with it too low

which will cause a slwo accumulation of symotms until you feel hypo

again eventually. Sometimes we have been ill so long we really donlt;

knwo WHAT good health feels like! LOL

Suzanne,

Thanks for your welll wishes -- I am glad that my info. may be helpful to others. As far as my experience, I started sleeping like a rock and waking rested within the first week or so of starting T3 only. Luckily, my energy returned pretty quickly too. My metabolism gradually improved about half-way through and continues to improve. I think my hair loss has improved as well and my menstrual cycle has regulated (I used to go months without one). I have lost the 7-10 pounds that I put on when Armour changed and I discovered RT3 problem for which I am grateful. I did have dosing issues throughout and had difficult time getting steady 98.6 ish temps until after clearing. My dosing issues involved difficulty increasing dosage without increased bpm and heart issues.

As far as my T3 reading -- that is a good question. I cleared on a Friday and had to dramatically decrease to almost nothing over the weekend and then had my blood tested on that Monday. That could account for my low Free T3 couldn't it Val? What would an optimal Free T3 be?

Thanks,

Beth

Thanks,

Beth

Thanks,

Beth
