Guest guest
I must of made a typo, ferritin is 30, and RT3 is 306No, I am not on thyroid meds.I wasn't on any adrenal support at the time those saliva tests were taking. I went on them after. Would those levels of cortisol cause all the anxiety I am suffering from? She put me on 20mg of HC in the am but stopped it cause I couldnt sleep at night, but dont know for sure if the HC would do it? Also, if I take HC in the morning will it make the anxiety worse? I just joined the adrenal board, but I think they said it was moderator week and cant post yet. >> What do you make out of my labs? I had recent blood drawn last week and just did another cortisol test just waiting for results. Will let you now when they come in. This blood work done the end of march. and cortisol was done Jan 6. The new saliva results may help >> >> Ferritin 306 Were you supplementing iron? that seems high? are you suffering imflamation? >> TSH 1.370 Range 0.450-4.500 >> T4 8.1 Range: 4.5-12.0 >> Reverse T3 306 Range; 90-350 >> TBO 10 Range 0-34 >> Free T3 2.6 Range 2.0-4.4 FT3/RT3 ratio after correcting units of 8.5, should be a minimum of 20. Were you on any thyroid meds? Hypo with rT3 issues, probably related to the cortisol issues. T3 only would be the way to go but you need to get the adrenals right first. >> >> Salivary cortitol _ tested in Jan >6-8am 12 (range 13-24) low >11-12noon 7 (range 5-10) normal >4-5pm 15 (range 3-8) elevated >10-mid 22 (range 1-4) elevated Were you on any adrenal support then??? They are way out. Have you posted them on the adrenal board?? http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ Cortisol only in the mornings won't do it, you need to re-establish a pattern to your cortisol levels until temmperatures are stable and then go T3 only for 3 months to clear the RT3. After that you might be able to wean off the HC. Nick
Guest guest
You reestablish cortisol pattern by taking dosing higher in the morning, then gradually lowering through the day -- like your body is supposed to do. Taking 20 all at once in the AM -- that shuts down your ACTH, which means your body wasn't making any cortisol later on and that's probably what gave you insomnia. I would repost on the adrenal forum when it opens back up, but if you go to the files on that forum, I think you can find some guidelines for HC supplementing. But for example, to dose 20 mg, you might do: 7.5, 5, 5, 2.5 every 4 hours. Also, since you have really high nightime cortisol, I think they recommend taking phoshitidylserine (Seriphos) to help get that back to normal. > > > > How do I reestablish a pattern to my cortisol? How often do I take temps? Sorry for all the questions but I am new to all this. Clueless is more like it. > > > Cortisol only in the mornings won't do it, you need to re-establish a > > pattern to your cortisol levels until temmperatures are stable and > > then go T3 only for 3 months to clear the RT3. > > > > After that you might be able to wean off the HC. > > > > Nick > > >
