Guest guest
Wow, thanks for the detailed account ‹ my husband is always so tired and groggy he can¹t remember much And yet they said he snored only 10%, slept about 92% of the time, and got almost no ³Delta² sleep which is his problem. We have yet been told what the ³solution² is and that was 2 years ago.... How many hours did you sleep? I really wanna have one done do they monitor your pulse, oxygen and BP as well? I dream a lot and talk/laugh in my sleep and they video tape this stuff ROFL! Youtube, here we come! sue On 10/13/08 6:30 PM, " Mike Lawson " <mlawson66@...> wrote: > > A good lab will have a very nice rooms with comfy beds and they > will be pretty dark. Guest guest
You are most welcome. I hope I'm not scaring you out of having a sleep study done. We got there at 7:30 so it was probably 9:00 when I tried to sleep. They woke us up at 5:30. I know I was up a lot so I don't know how many hours of sleep that actually entailed. So, what is the solution for lack of Delta sleep? That curiosity is kicking in again. Oh yeah, I forgot, they do monitor blood oxygen saturation too. Not blood pressure though. Don't give them any ideas now. The thing that I was concerned about was the IR camera. I really didn't want that come show up on utube. I'm very warm blooded so I don't sleep piled under covers. I don't know what all that IR camera can see... I sure hope no embarrassing footage shows up on utube. :-) > > > > > A good lab will have a very nice rooms with comfy beds and they > > will be pretty dark. Guest guest
The funny thing is Mike, I can¹t stand having my blood pressure taken ‹ when I was pregnant with my first chilld, 21 years ago, I developed pre-eclampsia, high blood pressure out of the blue late in the pregnancy. My doctor sent me home from work, to bedrest and hospitalized me overnight, saying to my face, ŒIf your pressure were 10 pts higher you would stroke out and die.² O M G. Ever since then I have been terrified to have my BP taken ‹ talk about white coat syndrome! I guess I can handle pinching the scalp and the nose stuff ‹ but I do have to sleep on my side and take my ³sleep magic pill² as needed and I will be good to go. I will go ahead and get one done ‹ it doesn¹t sound so bad... I just don¹t think I will sleep but I probably will... sue On 10/13/08 8:12 PM, " Mike Lawson " <mlawson66@...> wrote: > > > > You are most welcome. Guest guest
Mike- Don't forget your fins! LOL -- Re: Mike Thanks Sue. I will certainly give the scuba mask a try... I wish my 2 docs could agree. One says it is pituitary and the other says it is sleep apnea. With my luck, it is probably both. Oh man, it takes them 45 minutes to wire you up. They put this eletroconductive goop at various places on your scalp and proceed to try and push the electrode through your skull. Then they put these bands around your waist, belly and legs. Finally, they stick 2 different sensors up your nose. Oh, I almost forgot all the EKG wires that are also included. I'm just surprised and glad that they didn't attach any electrodes or sensors to the nether regions... I was really sleepy when I went in there, but after they wired me up, I was wired myself and had trouble sleeping. I took about twice the amount of stuff that I usually use if I am having insomnia and finally went to sleep after a couple hours of trying not to dislodge the wires. Then, they kept coming in throughout the night replacing or reattaching wires. That was the worst night of sleep ever for me. It wouldn't have been bad if they hadn't had to keep reattaching wires. If I have to go back and test again, this time with a scuba mask, I'm not messing around. I'll take the ambien that the doc offered. > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > >> > ...My PCP says that almost > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > >> > everyone that is tested comes back with sleep apnea > to > >>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>> > >> > some degree.... > >>>>>>> > >>> > > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > I have heard that is true if the neck size is greater than 18 > inches. > >>>>>>> > >>> > > > >>>>>>> > >>> > > Chuck > >>>>>>> > >>> > > > >>>>> > >> > > >>>>> > >> > > >>>>> > >> > > >>>>> > >> >

Guest guest
Hi Mike, I just want to thank you for starting this group. I had my monthly appt with my Pain Management doc today and I told her (I saw the PA today) I joined a stimulator support group online, she was not aware of any, even in person locally, but thought it was a brilliant idea. The procedure is becoming more and more popular and we all know it's not always easy to get through to our doctor's office when we have a question. On top of the fact, at least with me, I like reading about other people and their experience with the SCS, who better than someone with one to relate to. Thanks, you've done us all a great service. Guest guest
What is ADA (American Disabilities Act???). Do you know who to contact, how to find out? I just wish I had that problem. I don't have anyone to help me. If I need a procedure, I have 2 adult daughters but they have jobs where they can not just take off. One works 12 hours a day at CPS (Child Protective Services) and the other is a teacher who only gets 10 days during the school year but has my only grandchild who is very sickly and has to save her days off for him.....she ran out of days in January and has to take Leave Without pay now if he gets sick......I' m not able to watch him all day. So I don't have anyone. And where I live they don't allow you to use taxis. So I just have to hope if something happens it happens during a break for my one daughter. I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you. If you're alone, you might want someone with you for the first couple of days. I was glad I did. > > > Take Care, > B. in TEXAS > > > > > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > From: Sheryl Still <booweenut@. ..> > Stimulator@gro ups.com > Sent: Tuesday, April 7, 2009 7:59:48 PM > Subject: Re: > > > Hi ! > Thanks for the input regarding your experience with the trial. Every bit of information helps. You all know so much more than I do. (Pity, isn't it? No one asks to be an expert on this) I think that besides you guys, I'm going to keep the permanent date secret. One of my in-laws think that they want to come sit with me while I recover. Bless their hearts but ........please, dear God, NO!!!!!
