TSH is a pituitary homrone and has NOTHING ot do wiht thyroid status.

Whta oyu need is Free T3 and Free T4 testign. And reverse T3 test too.

Along wiht those, saliva cortiosl adn a full iron panel will give a full

picture.

Hey there, Although my TSH never hit 120, that I am aware of, after my first

was born, it did go to 13... I was told it would go away and my symptoms had

nothing to do with my thyroid... and when I was diagnosed, I was a basketcase

and the TSH was only 6.. granted, I'd let the symptoms build for a few years..

why go in and get told there was nothing wrong with me, yet again.. I was much

worse, physically, at 6 than at 13..

My big question is and has been for a while.. if TSH is soooo highly sensitive,

then why does it take up to 6 weeks to respond to changes in the thyroid levels?

And my other big question, why is it that once one is on thyroid meds, some docs

will say the target TSH is between 1-2, but the same docs will want to wait

until TSH hits 8 consistantly, before they begin to treat it? (not all docs,

but in my experience I have seen this more than once)
