Guest guest
Thanks Margery for sharing your experience it helps me to see I not alone. I guess I'm just worried if anything goes wrong whilst I'm on T3 I won't have any support from a medic and can't get accesc to blood tests etc Thank you so much for your support Josie To: RT3_T3 From: m.escoffery@...Date: Mon, 15 Mar 2010 15:00:04 +0000Subject: Re: Nick-having a nightmare with NHS Josie, one of my doctors "fired" me as a patient after I told her I was self treating. If she'd come up with an effective treatment, I wouldn't have had to self-treat, would I? My desperation to resort to self-treatment was a direct result of her failure to help me, and she knew it. Nick is right about insecure doctors. I treated my medical problem better than my doctor did, and she just couldn't stand that.Whatever else is going on, doctors have no business shouting at patients. It is unprofessional. If they're worried you're doing something dangerous, they can be emphatic about it, but a doctor who is shouting at a patient has lost control of both himself and the situation.>> > Dear Nick,> > I'm SO sorry to keep bothering you but I have just got back from seeing my GP and he shouted at me and told me how dare I self medicate and pretty much threatened to ban me from his surgery.> > > > Would I be able to send an email to your personal email address to explain a bit more about what happened and ask your advice on how you have handled the NHS over the years? Private tests can be ordered direct from some labs http://www.thyroiduk.org/ has a " private tests " item on the menu bar Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
Guest guest
If anything goes wrong you are still entitled to treatment on the NHS. Any foreigner that turns up in UK taking a treatment prescribed by a foreign doctor is entitled to treatment on the NHS in the case of an emergency. It is not because you have not been followed by an NHS doctor that you forfeit your right to treatment of any kind. You must stop thinking that you have done something wrong and concentrate on your doctor's obligations to you in his rôle as a public service worker. You should get someone to go to your next appointment with you if you feel intimidated (best if it's a male member of your family in my opinion!). My sister goes to see my step-mother's specialist with her so it must be possible. I let myself get pushed around by docs in the beginning of my thyroid problems because I was too fogged up to think straight or even ask questions and I am old enough to be your mother. Look upon this doctor's bad manners as part of a learning process and don't let it get you down. You don't have to put up with this. Take care and good luck with all this business. MacG.
