When I got married a year ago I asked my husband if he would go for the same

weekly menu. I guess I worked too long at environmental education camps

where we did have a weekly menu (I just remember Wed was Mexican and Thurs

was turkey). His response was " no way " . But as it's turned out, we

essentially do have a weekly menu.

Sunday - pot roast

Monday - cook a chicken - eat leftover potroast

Tuesday - eat chicken - start cooking bones

Wednesday - burritos with the chicken and black beans if I remembered to

soak on Mon and cook on Tues - also cook bones more as I haven't been

cooking overnight or during the day

Thursday - chicken soup -

If I've cooked beans I add black beans to the soup and garnish with huge

dollops of cilantro, fresh salsa, and creme fraiche - this is very

yummy

Friday - sausage (because it is very quick and I am very tired by Fri - and

if we have leftovers we use them in scrambled eggs Sat morning))

Sat - leftovers or maybe a NEW RECIPE!

What we eat with the meat does vary. The rest of the chicken and potroast

we usually eat for lunch.

It varies a little, but basically I'm in a rut. The wonderful thing is, my

husband doesn't care, says it's all great, always offers to help, and

hasn't seemed to notice we eat the same thing every week. When he cooked

the chicken this week (I was out of town), he put it in at 4:30, went to a

movie, came home at 9:45 - and discovered that 5+ hours is a bit much for a

3 pound bird!

Now if only I could get him to try fermented veggies!

Thanks Linnea,

I've been " stewing " about your menu for about two days. For some

reason it looks so " do-able " . I'm sure when I get started it will not

seem quite so do-able. I'm thinking I can do a lot of this in

crockpots. I'll get a few more crockpots and some ingredients and

start Sunday. Sunday is not such a busy day so we'll start the roast

in the morning in the oven. And plan on eating one meal in addition

to one meal of leftover roast for 5 people each time. And we'll get a

dishwasher and stop eating SAD food gradually and begin eating NT

gradually. You see, we milkone cow twice daily and raise around 50

hens. So we have lots of milk and eggs to eat and process or they're

spoiled. So we'll be butchering chicken Monday for Tuesday's crockpot

and consuming leftover roast as well. Thanks again. Dennis
