Dennis,

Balut (that's the spelling I saw in the Philippines) is a street food in

the Philippines, and I believe it is prepared boiled (hard? soft?) and

served in the shell (from a vendor's shoulder bag in the middle of the

night, quite commonly-- " BAH-LOOOOOOOOOT, " I can hear the vendors' singsong

advertisement even now).

Perhaps our Mr. Shilhavy of the Philippines can add more detail, but I've

heard that balut helps lessen the effects of a hangover, and is said, if I

remember correctly, to support male virility!

I could never bring myself to eat a boiled chicken-embryo, so I can't say

how they taste!

Hope that helps--

Any of you consume these partially hatched eggs? If so how are they

prep'd before consumption? What are the nutritional benefits of

these eggs? Dennis Kemnitz

Chicken? Aren't they duck eggs, or is there chicken balut, too?

Thought it was chicken embryos, but perhaps I'm wrong, or there are

variations...

Have you tried balut, duck or chicken? I always wanted to bump into

someone who could share the story!

try balut either. There is some demand for this product in U.S.

nowadays, so I was wondering of actual health benefits. Dennis
