Guest guest
Hello I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in June 2008. My adrenals were weak however, so we had to strengthen them, plus I had to find a new doc etc. I have been between 30-35HC since December 2008. I have never been able to wean. I started my actual thyroid treatment in January 2009. 4.25 grains seemed to be my optimal dose as I begun to lose weight, brain fog was gone and energy levels were good. However, I still had complete cold intolerance and my temps have never risen through ANY thyroid treatment. The only thing that has raised them a TINY bit was adding pregnenolone and DHEA. BBT pre ovulation bounces between 96.6 and 96.9 and post ovulation temps bounce between 97.1 and 97.7. These temps are NOT good. I stopped losing weight in January and have not lost one pound since. This is despite eating gluten free (I am a celiac) and keeping to a moderate carb diet (not low enough to induce ketosis and cause RT3 probs, but low enough to help my IR). I lost 21lbs between July and December and still have another 14 to go. My cold intolerance has gotten very bad and I could not cope AT ALL when the temps here fell to -15 to -20C this winter (I am 29 and we have not had a winter in my living memory: normal winter temps fall to a MAX of -1C here). I raised my thyroid, but this did not seem to help that much. I put on a few lbs and just seemed to vacillate between hypo and hyper. So, I decide to test RT3 at the start of March: TT4: 133 (58-154)nmol/L TSH 0.006 (0.4-4.0)mIU/L FT4:27.5 (10-22)pmol/L FT3 8.19 (2.8-6.5)pmol/L FT4/FT3 RTAIO: 3.36 (3.0-5.0) Thyroglobulin: <20.0 (0-40)IU/mL Peroxide 329 (0-35)IU/mL Reverse T3: 0.75 (0.14-0.54) pmol/ml My ratio is 10.85. Are these results really bad? It just can't be the high free's causing the RT3 though can it, as my temps never moved. I know the severe stress I have been under since Christmas has likely made this issue worse; but is there a way to get rid of RT3 once stress has passed without doing T3? I assume not. So, I am wondering what people can tell me about their experience going on T3 only from Erfa. Do you really get temps up and does the coldness go away? Also, I am looking for a doc in London. I go to a doc in Belgium and I get the impression he does not believe in T3 therapy. Furthermore, I don't think T3 is available in Belgium. So, I need to find a doc in the UK who is willing to give high doses as I read that many people seem to need like 125mg. I am tired of going to docs who say they are all about symptoms; but then will only prescribe like 2 grains. I cannot import prescription meds into my country as customs seize them.
