Guest guest
Congrats, , on starting up your AP! My herx didn't show up until after a week into the AP. It started slowly, at first, then built in intensity for several weeks before slowly backing off. At the height of it, I was pretty much in bed for a couple of days. Now, I don't think my doc knows or cares about preventing a herx since I was and still am taking 200mg mino each day and 250mg azithromycin. He is rather aggressive that way, I guess, and is more anxious to kill the beasties than to worry about how yucky I felt in the process. LOL It was six miserable weeks for me, but frankly, I relished the pain in a way as I assumed it meant I was winning the battle. It was hard to trust that it would eventually back off, and I would start feeling better, but it DID happen. I haven't really had a chance to study pulsing the meds, and I don't think I'm on the best form of mino since it is the generic. However, last year, I could barely hobble along, and to do something like kick a soccer ball sent waves of agony through my body. Two days ago, hubby and I had a date to an amusement park, and I rode the roller coasters and other rides and walked for 7 hours with only some aching feet as a punishment. That was something I never thought I would do again even two months ago! Anyway, to answer your question, if you want to avoid a herx, you may want to continue slowly. If you are anxious to increase your dose, perhaps you could do twice a day on Mondays, and later add the other days? Does your doc have any opinions? Blessings! I can't say I've noticed any herx, if so it's been a mild increase from the normal pain in my hands. I'm considering increasing my dosage of minocin to 100mg twice a day, MWF since the herx is almost none existant. Do you guys think this is a valid assumtion to make a week into the AP and good logic to follow?
