Guest guest
My ferritin lowered from taking GSE (grapeseed extract), drinking green tea and taking a greentea extract supplement with meals. My ferritin fell 10 points a month for 3 months until I caught it. After doing some study I learned that GSE, as well as green tea, is loaded with tannans that bind iron- effectively chelate it. ALA also has an affinity for binding iron. I read that chelating agents only bind up " free " iron and not iron bound to proteins such as ferritin and transferrin. I am guessing that I didn't hold my ferritin because most of my iron was being chelated, but still find it shocking it fell that much, that fast. AGThanks. Will lower the T3 and try the iron again. My ferritin used to be 80, but chelation lowered it to 63. I stopped chelating two months ago. I am hoping my ferritin went up some since then. I took the test last week.
