I'm new and it's quite possible that I don't belong here but I'm having a really hard time finding help and info for my situation. I have almost every thyroid symptom in the book, but I didn't realize it. I have had my TSH tested few times but it was always normal. After my hair started falling out again I decided to order lab tests myself based on what I was reading about hair loss. Well, my TSH is normal, my T4 is normal and my T3 is low; all according to the lab ranges. All the thyroid forums and websites only seem to address this issue as a result of hypothyroid meds. I'm not on any meds. Anyone else have this combo of lab results? I have an appointment for Tuesday, but I'm not too hopeful. Thank you for taking the time to read this!Female, 32Sent from my iPhone

Guest guest
Thanks Suzanne! I'm pretty sure I was in my luteal phase when my labs were drawn. I'm not charting, but I have in the past. Guest guest
Hi, yes low ferritin can give other hypo like symptoms. But I do think you are hypo as well. But I would rather one of the moderators tell you that for sure. Hair loss is very stressful! I too am dealing with that. I believe mine is because of ferritin and also high reverse t 3. That is another test you should have done. Lots of Dr. don't agree with or know about this test. You should ask your dr. about this when you see them on tues. along with the ferritin. When you run a rt3 you also need to run the free t3 with it so you can look at the ratio. You want more free t3 than rt3 (rt3 is inactive)With your free t3 being low it would be interesting to see where your rt3 is. You want free t3 to be at the top of the range. Val or Nick could look at these labs and probably know exactly what is going on and what you should do. Get really prepared before you see your dr.! Have you read Stop The Thyroid Maddness? Look that web-site up online. Lots of great, life saving info! Also ask Val or Nick if your estrogen/progesterone ratio looks ok. I am thinking your P might be low compared to your E for that time of your cycle. Good luck. Keep being persistent and you'll get it straightened out! S One other thing, if your running test, you should look into B12. Most people with B12 deficiencies have hair loss. Guest guest
Hey that was fast on the test. Good work. So when you get those results, post them with the labs you posted the other day. That way everything will be in one message for the mods. to look at. I'll be watching for them too. Curious to see the results.S To: RT3_T3 Sent: Sun, April 25, 2010 3:25:53 PMSubject: Re: Low T3 only Bumping so hopefully mods will jump in:) I got blood drawn to check my ferritin and B12 Friday, so results should be back soon. > > >  > >Hi , let me start by saying I am not an expert on this.
