Guest guest
Hi Heidi, I have had steady temps for 3 weeks now (been on HC for 4 weeks), my ferritin in December was 71, but had it tested again last week to make sure and will have the results in the next day or so. I haven't been supplementing iron because my level was 71 when I had it tested (never had supplemented it before). I do have iron supplements in the cabinet I had bought in case my level was low when I had it tested back in December, so I am going to start taking a small dose tonight and then when I get my newest ferritin results will dose accordingly. I know I can't take T3 with iron, but can I take it with HC? It's hard trying to figure out when to dose things because of no iron or calcium near the T3, etc... Thanks again for your response Heidi. I had thought both of those could be it. I did take an extra 2.5 of HC tonight and it seemed to calm me down. I am sensitive to medications, so even though it was a small dose, it doesn't surprise me. Are you still supplementing with iron? Being hypo uses up iron so you need to keep taking it. Heidi>> I started T3 today since my temps have been stable on the HC for the past few weeks. In December my ferritin was 71 and I just had it retested last week, but don't have the results yet. The 71 in December was without supplementing iron. Two years ago, when I was sick (could barely eat for 2 months), and my level was 32. So not sure if that was from lack of eating or perhaps my current level is a false reading at 71. Anyway, I took 6.25 of cynomel at 8:30 a.m. when I took my HC and then I took it again 4 hours later. Nick's website said for anyone starting to take 2 small doses in the morning, first thing and then 4 hours later. I was okay with the first one, but after the second dose I felt light headed, spacey, and just felt weird/"off" feeling. Tonight I have been dizzy, anxious, etc...I did drink a glass of salt water and it didn't really help. My pulse is 84 and my average temp today was 98.3, been 98.2 for the 5 days prior. Do you think that these feelings could be from taking the two small doses? Should I only take the one tomorrow and hold that for 3-5 days before adding the second 6.25 dose?> > Thanks!> > Terri>
Guest guest
You need to take iron on an empty stomach with vitamin C. You need to take HC with food. I know it gets complicated!! Are you still taking dessicated thyroid as well as T3? Heidi > > > > I started T3 today since my temps have been stable on the HC for the past few weeks. Guest guest
Yes it does get complicated. I just don't know when I can take iron unless I set my alarm to wake up and take in an hour after my last HC dose. I took the Blue Bonnet last night with food and my HC, and my stomach was irritated today. I have to be careful because I have had ulcers before. I am not NOTHING for thyroid yet. I had my adrenal testing done (saliva) back in January and started that first to get my adrenals stable. So I didn't do anything today with T3, so will start just one dose tomorrow morning, and then add more in a few days. Would I be better off to add to the morning dose in 3-5 days or a second dose 4 hours later? Thanks!Terri From: moonlithorses Sent: Tuesday, March 30, 2010 12:45 PM To: RT3_T3 Subject: Re: Started T3 today HEIDI You need to take iron on an empty stomach with vitamin C. Guest guest
You CAN take T3 and HC at the same time. I usually swallow the HC and let the T3 dissolve in my mouth. Other people have posted that they set the alarm for the middle of the night to take iron. Iron pills are not absorbed with food. I have first breakfast and second breakfast like the hobbits, and take iron in between. It worked. Why not start with just 6.25 and split it. I know its a crumb, but it's a powerful crumb. If that goes okay, add another 6.25 in a few days. Heidi
