Mitzi,

Can you tell me more about ammonia and the bicarb capacity to clear

it? I'm wondering if it would be relevant to my son so I wonder

what the signs of high ammonia are?

Thanks - sorry for the basic questions. I have SO MUCH to learn.

I was told to take magnesium to help me sleep (I have trouble partly

because I am in some pain, not

too bad but it keeps me in one position). I bought magnesium oxide,

calcium, and vitamin D all in one capsule, and I have taken two

capsules each night (thus 250 mg of magnesium, 500 of calcium, and

200 of D). I get calcium and D from other sources too during the day.

It has enabled me to sleep deeply, but I keep awakening, then I get

back to sleep, but I have horrible dreams. The next day I still feel

tired. I am also taking the antidepressant Cymbalta (40mg). I take

it just before going to bed, but last night I took it two hours

before thinking that might yield better results. Do you have any

ideas what I am doing wrong? Should I take a different kind of

magnesium or not take it with calcium and D? Any ideas?

Hi ,

My neighbor used to take Cymbalta but had to stop because she said it gave her

horrible nightmares. They stopped when she discontinued the Cymbalta. Maybe

this is what is causing your horrible dreams? Perhaps there is something else

that will work for you. Good Luck.

No I doubt that would cause any issues, if it is in pill form it has already

been proccessed! Our son cant swallow pills at all and so we take most

supplements, chop them or sprinkle(powder form) write in food he swallows(that

he doesnt chew). A lot of pills just pass write through anyways, so It is better

to crush/chop it up to help with the digestion of it. I have seen other forms of

magnesium, oxide, citrate in powder forms. I feel it would be better for you to

crush the pills!! Jennie<><

find this form in a capsule. Would I mess up it's effectiveness if I

crushed the tablet and put it in a capsule?

Both my daughters with autism use Magnesium Glycinate and it has been great

for constipation. It is in a capsule. We purchased this from Kirkman Labs.

Thank you. I actually found these and am using them for one of his

doses. I need to dump 2 caps into a larger one just to minimize the

amount of pills he's taking each morning, but it's better than those

HUGE tablets. I've gotten kind of good at smashing those and pushing

it into a capsule. OY, the things we do to get stuff in our kids!

Kirkman labs makes a sweet powder called Buffered Magnesium Glycenate

that you can mix with water. My son loves it, and it's also good for

hiding other supplements.

Water Oz makes liquid mineral supplements. I have found best prices

for these supplements at www.kornax.com. This brand was recommended

to us by our alt med doc. No taste at all. Put it in anything.

Good luck :)

We tried the magnesium sulfate cream from Kirkrman's for the first

time last night.

The girl that has been watching the boys during the summer reported

to my wife that K. was " the most calm she has ever seen him " today.

Co-incidence? We'll see I guess, but I know that the word " calm " has

never never never been used to describe them before and that's what

the magnesium is supposed to do and the baby-sitter had no idea that

we were doing anything different. So far, I'm a believer.

Wow... that sounds right up my alley, since my son has a hard time

taking things orally. Did you need a perscription for this cream?
