Guest guest
Hi my name is Edenbeck. Hopefully I will be having a MGB performed by Dr. Rutledge in Durham, NC. I was wondering if you all could help me out. I would like to know what your experience was like. How has your life changed? Did you have the results that you expected? And, if you would like, would you please share with me anything related to this. I thank you so much for your time and effort to help me. God bless e-mail @ : edenbeck@... Guest guest
, I just sent this note to another person who asked how I was doing since my surgery...I'm gonna cut and paste some of it that I think will help answer some of your questions too... I have lost 37 lbs total since my surgery on November 5th. I am pretty pleased with that amount especially because I never feel deprived like I did when I was dieting. My attitude towards food has changed so much...It really is true that my old cravings are just not the same as they were before surgery! The results are fabulous. My high blood pressure is gone and so are my overactive bladder troubles (having to go 15 times a day and 3 times a night was SO aggravating)! I did take my measurements before my surgery but I haven't measured myself since so I don't know how many inches I've lost so far. I'll have to do that one of these days. It will be exciting to see the difference in inches too. I'm just excited b/c I can fit into jeans that I had in my closet from several years ago - WOOHOO! I was a size 22/24 and I am fitting 18/20's now. I am taking my vitamins (3 a day just like I should be) and doing fine with that. I am almost done taking my Actigall. I had my eyes examined today and they asked me to fill out this medical history...It was pitiful to have to check off all the conditions that I have experienced or that my blood relatives have experienced (heart disease, diabetes, cancer, breathing problems). It just reminded me again how grateful I am to have had surgery - with the weight loss, I know that my risks are so much less now for developing these kinds of conditions like my parents! It's a much more secure feeling...I was pretty concerned about getting more and more unhealthy as I got older (and fatter! Yikes!). Anyway, I'm rambling now... Well, ...I hope that gives you a bit of an idea of how things are going for me. I am a pretty recent postop since my surgery was just 7 weeks ago. Maybe some of the other 'veterans' can give you some more feedback too. By the way, I have not been exercising real consistently yet (and I still have lost 37 lbs!!!) but my gym membership begins Jan. 1st and so I expect that regular workouts will really help me with even greater weight loss and of course, with overall fitness. I am thrilled!!! All the best to you, Amber 11/5/99 Starting BMI: 47 Current BMI: 40 __________________________________________________
