Guest guest
when I have trouble with T3 it is usually palpitations and feeling short of breath...these symptoms have returned since I got to 75 Mcgs of cytomel so I am backing the cytomel down again...my ferritin did not rise with the rise in T3 dosage...but maybe that's because Val says it gets used up. I have been eating a lot of red meat and raisins...I could not tolerate T3 when I had a ferritin of 58...now I can tolerate 65 mcgs at a ferritin of 54....the only other x factor was the vitamin D..which is now close to 80. But I did take Ironsorb for several weeks when I started raising T3 ....maybe that helped in some way....I just don't understand why all the authorities on iron have set acceptable ferritin levels so low... > > Oh wow Harry, this is very good news for me. I have been having these same issues with not being able to tolerate T3 and my ferritin levels went too high since I over supplemented and my Vit D levels are too low. I guess I should start supplementing with 10,000IU instead of the 8,000 IU. How long did it take you to raise your Vit D level to tolerate taking 75 mcg of T3? I take 75 mcg now and can see a slight difference in how I feel when I take Vit D daily. What symptoms did you have when you couldn't tolerate taking T3? I narrowed Vit D down as being the one missing link and you have confirmed this for me. Thanks. > Louise > > > > > Peggy...have you had your Vitamin D measured? Curious because I was unable to tolerate cytomel at all...and everyone kept telling me to boost ferritin....mine was only 54....But I am very cautious about iron having read numerous books by experts in the field. They all argue that we should keep ferritin below 40 and that real damage results at a ferritin over 75. With no place left to turn I began supplementing iron very conservatively but also boosted my vitamin D intake to 4000-6000 IUs per day...I began to tolerate cytomel and am now taking 75mcgs per day...but I STOPPED taking iron and my ferrrin actually went down....So I have to beleive that Vitamin D played a role in being able to tolerate Cytomel....just a thought...good health to you! > > >
