RT3 is a seporate test all together. https://econolabs.com/tests/search.php

I'm not sure how RT3 impacts TSH. I think labs can show low free T3, high FT4 but not always. Have you read the faq? http://thyroid-rt3.com/

Thanks for the answers but I am still confused. I know that rt3 is a separate

test, which I have had, but I thought that ft3, rt3 and maybe something else

makes up your total t3. If total t3 does not include rt3, then what is total t3?

If rt3 is not part of total t3, what makes my total t3 so high in the test

results below when my ft3 is not high at all?

Here are my test results

Free T3 2.3 (1.6 - 5.6)

R T3 222 (90 - 350)

Total T3 150 (84 - 172)

Free T4 1.0 (.8 -1.6)

TSH .004 (.40 - 4.5)

Thanks,

Maureen

" Total T3 can be affected by protein levels and protein binding ability, but the

free T3 is not. "
