Guest guest
Try putting your request in writing, in letter form. Indicate at the bottom that cc's are going to your attorney, your new doctor, your insurance company, maybe the state medical board, and anybody else you can think of who might be relevant. This is a pet peeve of mine--why does the patient not have a right to her own medical records? You have to pay for a consult to get them? Outrageous. Peggy Lab results / can't get a copy My most recent lab results are being held hostage. I've called several times for copyand was given the run around for past week today I am told I must make an appt for the dr to go over them with me. I am seeing another dr and wanted to bring them with me. How can I get around this? Laurie

Guest guest
Hi Laurie, I would call your new Dr.'s office and tell them that you are having problems getting copies of your labwork. Your new Dr. can request copies of your labs be sent to his/her office from the physician that is giving you a hard time. They should be able to make this request either by phone or fax. The way the system is set up is not very fair to the patient but between physician's this can be done. Then once you see the new Dr. you can get a copy of your labs. Who knows, your new Dr. may be kind enough to send you a copy prior to your appointment if you ask them to. Hope this helps.
