The minocycline therapy for RA (without the benicar) has been clinically proven

to be safe and effective through the MIRA Trial (Minocycline in Rheumatoid

Arthritis).  This therapy has been used for 60+ years.  Many people have been

successful without the benicar.

Good Luck!

Is anyone in this group on the Marshall Protocol?

My doctor started me on Minocycline, but I did not take Benicar. Did anyone

start out this way (without taking Benicar), and how

did you control the pain and inflammation?

I recently went off the protocol (with doctor's permission), and have been

taking ibuprofen because the pain is pretty intense. The ibuprofen doesn't

relieve that much pain. It just makes things barely tolerable. I just had a hip

replacement in May, and I have some hydrocodone left over from that. That plus

the ibuprofen takes away the pain, but I don't want to be on hydrocodone any

longer.

Just curious what all of you do to relieve pain (on the Marshall Protocol or

not).

Thanks,

Hi ,

Why did you stop taking the minocycline? And what, if anything, were taking in

addition to the minocycline?

I didn't stop taking the minocycline.

What I meant by going off the protocol was that I started taking ibuprofen for

pain. I have been taking ibuprofen, hydrocodone and the minocycline.

Everything I've read about the Marshall Protocol says not to take

anti-inflammatories.

This is from Wikipedia. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory drug also.

Ibuprofen (INN)  from the now outdated nomenclature iso-butyl-propanoic-phenolic

acid) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (N-SAID) originally marketed as

Brufen.

Hi ,

First of all, if you aren't taking Benicar then you are not on the Marshall

Protocol. It sounds to me like you may be on the antibiotic protocol (AP), which

is similar.

With the AP, it is okay to take ibuprofen. In fact, I believe an NSAID is

recommended because it helps the antibiotic do its job.

In at least one study I read about, minocycline was taken along with prednisone.

As the patients improved, they tried to wean themselves off of the prednisone.

I believe that limited use of prednisone is allowed while on the AP.
