Guest guest
Dear Judy, Hope you are ok, I am still learning and am NO way an expert but from what we've been learning a high FT4 often strongly indicates an RT3 problem as does a high FT3 (as the RT3 is blocking the receptors and the T3 can't get in the cells and so pools in the blood giving a high reading. So without even needing to see your RT3 result one can guess you have an RT3 problem. Wow thats a big RT3 reading! How are you feeling? Your ferritin is quite high which I think indicates inflammation. Best to get a full iron panel done to see whats going on Might be worth taking some Vit D What medication are you on, I guessing with these results you should get on T3 alone Lets see what Val and others say..... Guest guest
Hi Jo, I'm feeling better. I self-diagnosed my hypo condition 7 yrs ago in 2003 after being continually told I was " normal " most my life whenever I complained about my symptoms, which were numerous. I was started on syncrap.(sigh)Actually the best I ever felt was on old Armour I started that in Oct 08', and felt excellent till the " reformulation " caught up with me in Mar 09'. Many of my hypo symptoms returned with a vengeance. Now I've had numerous med changes and started Naturethroid last Dec. Weird that I feel good huh? Considering my labs. I already take 1000 IU of vit. D3 daily but did run out about a week before the bloodwork was done. I was surprised my vit. D was so low. I don't feel old Armour good tho. I get cramps regularly on the top of my left foot and occassionally in the back of both calves (mostly late at nite for the calves,)I'm almost bald at the top of the back of my head and at the nape of my neck, nails are still brittle but not as bad as before, and I'm back and forth between, consipation, normal and slight diarrea. I gained 60 lbs in the last 1990s, and have only been able to lose about 27 lbs even with totally following Ww. I've lost and gained the same 7 lbs for over 9 yrs.!I sure hope I can find out what's going on. Guest guest
Gosh I'm sorry to hear about all of this! I would suspect that your high reading of RT3 is causing these problems and so I would think going on to just T3 will improve things greatly......but best to check with the rest of the group before starting. Have you tested your adrenals? If you haven't the best thing to do would be to have an adrenal saliva test done, join the adrenal group and post the results there. You may have an adrenal problem thats making things worse Also If you can get a full iron panel done I think that would be really useful and post the results here and see what everyone makes of them You may need to take 2000-5000iu of Vit D to get the levels up Good luck Josie Subject: Re: new -here are my labs am I RT3 resistance ? I gained 60 lbs in the last 1990s, and have only been able to lose about 27 lbs even with totally following Ww. I've lost and gained the same 7 lbs for over 9 yrs.!I sure hope I can find out what's going on. Guest guest
Also have a read here-loads of helpful info http://thyroid-rt3.com To: RT3_T3 From: judygirlii@...Date: Thu, 22 Apr 2010 13:07:39 +0000Subject: Re: new -here are my labs am I RT3 resistance ? Hi Jo, I'm feeling better. I self-diagnosed my hypo condition 7 yrs ago in 2003 after being continually told I was "normal" most my life whenever I complained about my symptoms, which were numerous. I was started on syncrap.(sigh)Actually the best I ever felt was on old Armour I started that in Oct 08', and felt excellent till the "reformulation" caught up with me in Mar 09'. Guest guest
Yes Jo, I've read the RT3 section, that's why I ask for my RT3, ferritin, Vit. D and B12 to be tested. No I don't have any adrenal problem symptoms. Have already upped my vit. D to 2000 IUs. I want to know now if my RT3 level is a problem and how to proceed. You need ot stop ALL T4 even what is in natural thyroid. You have a VERY serious RT3 problem. But your T4 is over range as well so that is feeding ti and at least partially to blame. You also need ot get a full iron panel done and a test for Hemochromatosis as oyur ferritin is way too high. -- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/
Guest guest
Val, I had my iron tested 10/15/09 it was low. That why I started eating iron rich food I thought I had an iron deficiency. Then the labs I posted w/RT3 shows Ferritin, high? neutrophils 35; 40-74 hemoglobin 12.4; 11.5-15.0 neutrophils(absolute) 1.4; 1.8-7.8 wbc 4.1; 4.0-10.5 iron bind.cap.(tibc) 302; 250-450 iron, serum 65; 35-155 iron saturation 22; 15-55 TSH 0.005;0.450-4.500 I sent the full report but my post seems to have gotten lost, if you need them I will re-send.
