val, just quick question,

my bilirubin has been elevated for quite a while...actually was high according

to labs done in 07,

then again when i had labs done in nov of 09 it was 1.5(ranges0.1-1.2),my

ferritin at that time was 31.

for various reasons, i switched from that doc tho and now have a new one and

my bilirubin labs done in feb. of this year were 2.0(0.1-1.2), (he did not run

ferritin labs)

he was concerned/interested in it being so high and put me on silymarin(sp?)

twice a day for a liver detox. we never really looked into why it would be so

high though.

we have native american heritage on my dads side, and he tells me that his

bilirubin has always been elevated and that it is an inherited family thing. my

twin sister and i both have elevated bilirubin, and we were actually jaundice as

babies.

i wonder, is elevated bilirubin related to an in-danger liver... i also wonder

if ties into not being able to absorb iron properly at all, overtaxing the

liver?? my sister, as i mentioned, has high bilirubin, but her ferritin is also

really high (as is her coritosol, i suspect). my ferritin, on the other hand,

is really low, and i have run low on cortisol and do 30mg/dayHC.

anyway, what are your thoughts on all of this?? how do you think it all ties in

together? and, most importantly should i be very worried about my liver?? esp

since i am supplementing iron heavily to get my ferritin up there.

-THANKS VAL:))
