Guest guest
I'm glad to know that it's not just in my head. I know several women have brought up the issue of PA and hormones. I am 47 and starting to go through menopause and I was only recently diagnosed. I have also noticed the last two months that the neck swelling and other PA symptons were in conjuntion with the PMS symptons. I am going to keep an eye on this next month to see what happens. My last visit to the rhuemotologist I asked the nurse practitioner about hormones and PA. She stated that she had not previously heard anything about the link between the two until she read something on it very recently. Definitely something for us women to think about. I know I am going to monitor it to see if there is a link in my life between the two. nne Godwin <magnoliagirly@...> wrote: yes, I had that happen to me in 1998. It felt like I was being strangled. I too had all the thyroid tests, all normal. They told me it was " in my head " ....years later I was diagnosed with PA. Now the neck swelling happens off/on, no idea why.... deborahburcham <deborahburcham@...> wrote: Hi, I was wondering if anyone has experienced any swelling around the neck area with their PA. I occassionally feel like my neck gets swollen - it feels soft like it could be fluid. I have brought this to my Rhuemy's attention but couldn't tell from the response if this is normal (although what is normal with PA) or not. He did say that he could see the swelling so I know it wasn't my imagination. They are testing me for thyroid problems. Also, my throut tends to get sore when this happens. It feels almost like it is swollen as well. Just wondering if anyone else had this happen to them.
Guest guest
I have not experienced any noticable swelling in my neck but it does get very stiff. The tendon on the left side of my neck is always very tight and the joints in my neck " catch " . During one of my worst flares, I felt as if my throat was affected and I had trouble swallowing. Food would get caught in my throat. It was not much fun. > > > Hi, I was wondering if anyone has experienced any swelling around the > neck area with their PA. Guest guest
: I can't speak for others, but I have had nothing but throat/tonsil problems for a while now. Earlier this year, my tonsils had swollen up so badly that they were touching at the back of my throat. I had them removed 4 weeks ago because swallowing was becoming difficult. Another problem with my throat is that I have developed a nodule or node on my voice box and my voice is very raspy and cuts in and out when I talk. The more I flare, the worse it becomes. Hope this helps... -- In , " kelly donovan " <jamymad@c...> wrote: > > When you all go into a flare up does anyones throat swell up and close? > Thanks for any info > > ---NJ > > >
Guest guest
I don;t have dr supervision but I do have a tame one that orders blood monitoring for me. We did DMSA/ALA 70 rounds and now TD DMPS. Spend a few weeks reading and you'll probably know more than the Dr MAndi in UK Are a lot of you chelating your children on your own without any doctor's supervision or do you absolutely have to have a doctor? My kids are fully chelated with ALA, and I have never used a doctor for any biomedical interventions related to autism, except if you count reading the messages of doctors who participate on public message boards. Guest guest
Really late on response here. Sorry. My throat does swell when my neck goes into a flare. It doesn't completely close up but enough for me to notice, plus I need to take a muscle relaxer during these times or the neck pain with make my shoulder and head really bad. . I have found that I must be careful when chewing and not be in a rush which I do sometimes when I have other things on my mind. I choked once, that was enough for me to learn my lesson. If your throat is closing up, you may want to check with your dr about it. in Ct. kelly donovan wrote: > > When you all go into a flare up does anyones throat swell up and close? > Thanks for any info > > ---NJ >
Guest guest
, For myself, we needed the dx for the insurance company to pay. Guest guest
Hi , My son 4yrs is recieving the same exact services now that he has a dx of apraxia as when he was 2 and diagnosed with mental retardation. Unfortunately our school system does not feel as strongly about him recieving more speech, even though this is his biggest issue, the school concentrates on " school environment " kinda like saying he doesn't need to know how to speak to be in a classroom setting. However, having a dx of apraxia you stand a better chance of recieving services from your insurance if you can find a doctor that will clasify it as a neorological disorder. No I couldn't make that one happen, our group of doctors still say it is developmental, therefore they will not cover anything. Guest guest
My experience = it was the slowest poke-along stuff I ever saw. I had no patience for it. I complained bitterly to my doctor who then put me on compounding pharmacy testosterone cream at 25G -- that WORKS! bradtace1 <ace1965@...> wrote:I'm two weeks into it and don't feel anything yet. > Can't remember if I asked this already, Losing it. Guest guest
Hi Greg, Time it takes to notice results varies from man to man. My guess is 3-4 weeks, YMMV. Guest guest
I've been taking it for 1 1/2 weeks and I've already started to notice improvement. I started T for lose of penile sensitivity, and unexpectedly I've begun to come out of my long standing fog and depression. It hasn't helped with the sensitivity issue yet. But my untreatable " depression " , " narcolepsy " and " ADHD " have improved dramatically. Three years of my life wasted on SSRI's, speed and therapy, and I've gotten more results from a visit to a urologist to check that my heart medicine wasn't causing ED problems. Good luck > Can't remember if I asked this already, Losing it. When you take > Androgel, do you get a quick bang or do you feel better over a few > weeks. Guest guest
Hi, Nice news on your improvement! Often an initial boost from AndroGel will drop off, but don't let that discourage you. You might need a dosage adjustment and some estradiol control around your 6th week. Ask your uro for follow-up tests of T, free T & estradiol (E2) at about 6-8 weeks after starting AG. Peace, Bruce > > Can't remember if I asked this already, Losing it. When you take > > Androgel, do you get a quick bang or do you feel better over a few > > weeks. Guest guest
I'm new here - looking for bio-identical hormones in gel form. I'm a VA patient and they won't even give me the lab testing for testosterone. Does this have to be Rx? I'm sure I'm low on testosterone, or out completely (I'm 76 yrs. old) and I want to get some vitality back and I don't want to try to learn needles. Any help is appreciated. Guest guest
Bill, I had poor luck with treatment at the VA for hypogonadism. I'd strongly recommend contacting the endo Bruce posted - the endos I saw at the VA were worthless. Mark
Guest guest
It will take some time for your levels to stablize then your body needs to repair it's self for the damage that was done being to low. So when your levels stablize you will start healing. And start to feel better. The first thing that came back for me was morning wood very hard morning wood. Phil Greg Kevorkian <grekkevork@...> wrote: I read where the androgel will raise serum blood levels in 2 days. Will it get to a steady state after 2 days or will it continue to go higher. Like I stated, I started on 2 packs andro about 8 days ago. I will take blood on Tuesday that will be 11 days. Will the level on the test be what it will be or will it continue to rise for a while. Am I making sense? Thanks Greg ---------------------------------
