Guest guest
Hi there. So, I'm getting an IV iron tomorrow and, Val, as we talked about (well, posted about!!) I was going to touch base with you about how to dance that iron/T3 dance. I'm the one who couldn't tolerate going off T3, finally did and had an awful time – lots of adrenaline surges with not too awful increased pulse, though in the past pulse was up to 105 (from my low 60). I then couldn't tolerate even 2.5mcg without getting jittery, so I had to find a dose that didn't cause that, which was zero! I went off of it for a day (first time without thyroid meds in me since '95. And the day off of it I actually felt pretty okay, figuring I was using up what was pooling my blood, maybe? not sure if it works that way (though always the the ubiquituous diminished consciousness) and then WHOA I had the myxedema thing kick in the next day – blood pressure low, pulse dropped to 50, temp to 96, breathing funky, brain so much worse , could not remember how to dial a phone, I kid you not, couldn't even contact the list, limbs felt like lead – I could feel myself shutting down in a serious way. Creepiest thing I've ever felt in my life, which I think we're hardwired to feel so we'll react, rather than just roll over and that's it! But, I knew what was going on, so I didn't feel scared, just knew I had to cram T3 into me. I was afraid to dose high on T3 because of my adrenals, so I dosed up 1.25mcg increments, which I know sounds absurd, but given how sensitive I all of the sudden got to to the tiniest doses, it wasn't. But, it wasn't/isn't nearly enough. I was the living dead for about two days. I finally got enough in me to where it no longer felt like coma-ville, but my brain has not come back online to its regular foggy self. This concerns me. Something is bad. I'm on so little T3, but I get FOGGIER when I try to increase, which makes no sense to me. I'm on 17.25 mcg T3, divided up. (Was only on 25mcg before along with ½ grain NT and before that 1 grain. On that, lots of the RT3 cleared, btw.) As Val said, I'm waiting until I get my iron IV tomorrow before analyzing it all. BUT I NEED HELP WITH HOW TO DOSE AFTER I GET THE IV TOMORROW. (I'm dosing per Val's advice below, which was a decrease of 2.5 in HC, as well.) It's particularly bad in the afternoons for me, but I wake up bad. Increasing both HC or T3 makes my brain so much worse!! I hope I didn't mess myself up. In respone to my adrenaline surges, Val said, this (just as a reminder for you guys): You are not HYPER. But your body is not using the T3 properly, The low ferritin is causing issues that are stressing your adrenals with the T3. You need to find a dose where you get NO hyper symptoms as that is adrenaline, BOTH from weak adrenals that are not improving and from low ferritin which also causes adrenal stress. Instead of a 10-5-5-5-2.5 dose you should be on a better rhythm 10-7.5-5-then wait till bedtime and use 2.5 then Thanks so much, Carol
