Guest guest
Nick, thank you so much. Your response was very helpful and educational. (Sorry did not put ranges in for the cortisol.) That worries me about the 15 mg Cortef possibly disturbing production but not replacing enough. My doctor is adamant about not letting me go over 15 mg per day because of it causing my adrenal glands to stop producing. Arrgghhhh! So, before I should even consider T3 only, I should get my ferritin up, right? In another message quite a while a go, I saw someone write to a member saying that we need T3 to get our iron up. And we need ferritin raised to use T3. So first, I should focus on getting my T3 up as you said, right? I have also joined the adrenals group. From your message, I am glad to know that perhaps if I can get my ferritin up, and get my doctor to increase my dose of natural, maybe everything will fall into place. If not, then I ask for T3 only treatment, right? Would it be worth asking doctor to go directly to T3 treatment? Thank you again. > > >Free T3: 3.5 PG/ML (range is 2.3 - 4.2) > > Lowish, that wants to be top of range or a little over on Natural to > feel best > > >TSH: 0.015 uIU/mL (range is 0.35 - 5.50) > > OK on natural > > >Free T4: 0.74 NG/DL (range is 0.89 - 1.76) > > Again says you are under medicated as you are on natural > > >Ferritin: 25 ng/mL (range is 10 - 191) > > OUCH, that needs to be 70 to 90 for you to be able to get the T3 into > the cells > > >Reverse T3: 19 ng/dL (rangeis 11 32) > > 350/19 = 18.4 Ideally this wants to be over 20. > > I suspect that if you supplement iron heavily, 150 to 200 of elemental > iron a day (the Blue Bonnet is reported to work well), take it in 2 > doses a day, take the erfa 1 hour before or 4 hours after. > > After a couple of months on the iron you can probably increase the > Erfa and then the FT3 will come up to where it needs to be and the > ratio improve because of that. If your Dr will support it then yes, that's the most predictable answer Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
