Guest guest
I haven't posted in a while - between having a car accident and totaling my car 2 days before Christmas and coming down with this new flu the day after Christmas - Then it had to develop into a bronchial infection so I've been on antibiotics for 11 days. Hopefully, it is on the run because I hope to have my surgery in the next few weeks. I wanted to let those who were a little frustrated with delays in Dr. R's office, that it can be so MUCH worse. I called for an appt with my surgeon mid-Sept and couldn't even get an appt until 11/08. Was called back 11/12 and told the 'team' had approved me as a candidate pending insurance approval and the paperwork would be processed immediately. Well, my surgeon is on the road alot doing seminars, there were a few holidays etc etc and they finally got his tapes for transcribing mid December. Then they had to go to the medical transcriber - another delay. They came back, needed some corrections and were returned to the transcriber. Finally Friday nite (1/14), they called me at 5:45 PM to tell me the report was in their hands and my insurance paperwork would be submitted Monday or Tues latest. 2 MONTHS of waiting without even starting to deal with the insurance company!!! Well if it was a test to see if I was serious about it, I passed!!!! They have heard from me twice a week for 6 weeks. Now I was told that this is standard timing and not unusually long for an elective surgery. But my insurance has approved in less than a week many times and they will try to slip me into a spot right away. So I could be close, but I am so afraid of counting on it that I just sit in limbo & become more frustrated with my co-morbid conditions (apnea, HBP, joint pain, decreased mobility etc). I read all the posts and believe that this will save my life - if I don't die of old age before the surgery (LOL). Anyway, even though Dr R and Debbie are swamped, it seems as though they are grinding out the paperwork a lot faster than that. I am amazed at how many people I have watched come on the line, get the surgery and have lost dramatically just in the 6-7 months I have been on this list. I keep thinking how many pounds behind I am. Just wanted to vent a little - thanx for all the reports. It keeps me going.
