Guest guest
Hi Val This week I have been worried about dads low temps and high cortisol. So I have just gone back to his iron panel results. These were taken when he has on Naturethroid. And the NTH group don't exactly say anything about the iron panel they go more for ferritin. it is only since I have been on this group I learnt about it. I had a light bulb moment this morning and it could be his ferritin. Does it matter that the TIBC did not change in those months. So on the 9/11/09 Iron 26 umol/L 9-29 TIBC 64 umol/L 45-72 Trans Sat 41 % 20-55 Ferritin 26 ug/L 150-300 Then a month before christmas day. Same range Iron 24 TIBC 64 Trans Sat 38 Ferritin 103 He was taking 200 mg of elemental iron. So he did not iron for the next month. From that time I have been begging him to do a ferritin level but he just has not done one. He has taken iron on and off during this time. But his temp this morning was 35.5. When 3 months ago he was getting a temp of 37 in the afternoon. He is lucky he goes over 36 these days. I have a massive problem tomorrow he is getting his iron panel done finally. But he is also getting a tsh, free t4 and free t3 and the docs will freak. Either his tsh will be high because going by his temps he is very hypo. Or is free t3 will be very high because he took like 9 tabs yesterday and his temp did not go over 36. Plus if he has to stop t3 for 12 hrs is body will not like it.His temp will just drop lower. I really just want to tell him not to do the tsh and just go into and get the iron panel today and immediately start taking iron. I don't want his doc to see is thyroid results becuase he does not agree with what dad is doing. We are also vegetarians and if he not taking iron supps he does not get any plus he is a celiac.
