Guest guest
Hi Val, I've had transient gastroparesis for years but when I first began taking thyroid last May my gastroparesis worsened by becoming permanent. At the time I tried raising thyroid but couldn't so I stopped taking it. Then in September my doc said I should take it again and then through your site's advice I had ferritin tested and it was low (41). My adrenals are a little on the high side so I don't need HC and my electrolytes are fine (you told me so). I am currently on 20 mcg cytomel and waiting to raise once my ferritin is up (Im currently doing IVs). My gastro symptoms are terrible still and I'm wondering if the worsening of the gastro symptoms could have occured because of the ferritin being too low (41)and therefore not allowing the thyroid hormone to heal my gastro problem making me more hypo than before??? Please shed some light because thyroid hormone is supposed to help patients with gastroparesis...not make things worse. What do you suppose happened to me? P.S. Gastroparesis is a delay in gastric emptying due to less muscle contraction of the stomach and intestines. Hypothyroidism is listed as a possible cause of gastroparesis. So why aren't I better but worse??? Thank you for your advice in advance. Lore
