Guest guest
Lison, Our situation is similar to yours. Our son turned three in August and we don't get much support from our doc. You mentioned you son's day care. Do they realize how important this diet is? At my son's pre-school, they told us at first that we couldn't bring in his snacks. We put our foot down and they backed off. Now they are telling us that we can't bring in his supplies. We'll knock heads with them again and I bet they back off again. Even though they have no clue about the diet, they are starting to understand how adamant we are about it. We (and you) are working too hard at this diet too allow anyone to undermine our efforts. Take a stand. Also, Karyn Serroussi mentions in her book " Unraveling the Mysteries of Autism and PDD " that sometimes, after awhile on the diet, another food intolerance will show up. The most common culprits are soy, corn and eggs. She recommends removing them one at time and watching the child's behavior and stools. We also have our child on Nystatin. Although we kind of went against the advice Dr. Shaw gives in his book " Biological Treatments for Autism and PDD " and did not go sugar free. He recommends no sugar while on Nystatin. That includes sugars from fruit, juices etc. However, even though we are not sugar free, we have noticed an improvement in his stools while on the Nystatin. Don't worry a bit about your English. It's fine. I had no problem understanding your e-mail. Keep up the diet and keep reading as much as you can. and in Ohio.
Guest guest
Bonjour Lison Nice to see some more Canadians on the diet. I'm from the west coast but might be able to help you with Canadian products. Email me privately if you want. Sandie
Guest guest
Hi, In response to the Nystatin, I have catalog from BIO-TECH 1-. It has PureNystatin on page 11. Some will not sell to a consumer (I'm sure about this company). The product is called BIO-STATIN rx. I've never used this product, I would caution to check out carefully. They have a website also. www.Bio-Tech-Pharm.com . I hope this helps. Chris Need Help from Quebec >
Guest guest
Thanks a lot all for your advices. One more question... How long should I ask the Doctor for the Nystatin prescription and how many time a day? I really appreciated the great information I can learn by the group. Thank you so much. Guest guest
Lison I am starting nystatin next week with 1cc four times a day for 1 month. Then we are going to do another yeast test to see if his Candida count went down. Remember you have to give a probiotic with the nystatin to replenish the good yeast in the intestine, I got pro-bi gold from Kirkman labs.
