Guest guest
Hello, Barry, and welcome to the group. I've just got boring old chronic urticaria and delayed pressure urticaria (9 years) and definately find that sun exposure is a trigger for my hives. I just can't be in the sun any more for long, full stop. Some of the other members have "your" type of physical urticaria too and will advise you of what med combos help them. There is lots in the archives - you've got a lot of reading to do! Some people have found that there is a link with thyroid disorders, so maybe it might be worth having those tests? Others have found a link with H-pylori or hidden infections like dental and sinus. I know of only one person whose hives "just went away", finally, after many years. You can be tested to find out if it is "autoimmune", which mine apparently is - they take a sample of your blood, spin it, and inject it back in (in layman's terms!). If you react to your own blood, it's autoimmune, and therefore means it isn't anything to do with allergies, etc. For the vast majority of us, though, it's just plain idiopathic. Sounds like you live in a nice part of the world, with all this talk of riding, beaches, sun, etc. Keep in touch, from Carol in rainy, cold London U.K.
