Guest guest
Cindi, This guy was really tickled by it actually. He thought it was just so funny, to be honest. In a good way. I guess because the average person doesn't. For example, my friend had a brain tumor and they took out a few slices of brina when removing most of it. Its a rare tumor that only about 300 people in the US have had! Yet, she takes the meds that docs give her, does what they say, and doesn't question them and is a " good patient " . She doesn't understand my lack of blind belief in these people, or why I spend so much time on medical research. However, that's her and I'm me. I'm never satisfied with blindly believing unless they come up with a very convincing arguement. I don't care if its about medical stuff, or how to wipe down a kitchen table. If I have to be involved in it, I am going to know about it! Some of my docs have been disgusted about my knowledge. The last two I have gotten though, my pulmin and my DO think its great because they can actually talk to me about what is going on and I can answer them! I told my DO " Are you ready for the challenge? " meaning, my health problems...he said " You think YOU are a challenege? You just made my job EASIER " ... Meanwhile, the last few docs would get angry at me for my attention to detail and incessant questions. ha ha ha ha....I have decided that is now how I judge if they are good. If I intimidate them, I'm with the wrong doc. If they are not afraid, I know they are confident in their ability and listen and respect them more. > > I have been asked the very same question...both for me...and also when going > to doctor's office with sick family members. Guest guest
Actually, had she done that she would have been dead. In this case, its a good thing, because they did save her life. They estimated that had they not gone in, she would have lived maybe about 24 hours. She had passed out from what she thought was a migrane, went to the doc. They ordered a MRI, she had encephalitis because the tumor had kept her brain from reabsorbing brain fliud and there was so much pressure on her brain she would have died had they not done the operation on an emergency basis. Of course, she has brain damage now, but she is alive. However, in the aftermath of it, I would hav read up on every last thing to do with it, and what to do if the part still in there tries to grow back, possible causes, etc. Thats just me...I know you would do the same though because for real, if its in my body, I want to toally know what I am dealing with for sure!!!!! > this must be a case of ignorance is bliss...cause I woulda read every article > on the internet and every book that had even a reference on it before they > woulda cut my brain. folks who believe the words that come out of a doc's mouth > flat out scare me to death. > cindi > > >
