Guest guest
Hello Dan and welcome, although it goes without saying that we're sorry you have had to join our itchy crew! Sounds like you have had a similar run-around to many of us, going from doctor to doctor and never getting a straight answer. This thing just seems to strike us out of the blue, but a few (ok, very few) have found the cause of their hives, and these causes relate to hidden infections (dental, sinus, h-pylori). Some of us have been told that it's "autoimmune", meaning that allergies are not involved. There is a special blood test for this which involves spinning your blood and injecting it back. The only thing you can do, really, is suppress the worst of the symptoms as best you can, and readjust your life to cope with it. You will be warned to try to avoid prednisone, as the side effects are very serious, and the hives just come back anyway once you stop taking it. Keep in touch, and best wishes, Carol
