Guest guest
Dear Friends, Three months ago I wrote to you all telling you about my friend Terry who after fighting for a long time for a DS settled for an RNY. She had a VGB back in 1984 & regained the weight, this was a revision. Terry passed awat last night after a three month battle for her life. Terry had a lap RNY on 9-27-2000. Three days later part of her old staple line burst & sent 2 liters of bile throughout her abdominal cavity. They went in & repaired the leak. Two days later the rest of her line burst & she crashed. They went in again to repair & continued mega doses of antibiotics to stop the infection caused by the bile. She just never overcame all the trauma to her body. Over the next three months she had the folowing: phemonia twice, septic infection, blood infection,l kidney failure, a traceotomy. She was unconcious and on a resperator throughout all of this. Last week the Dr. told us he did not think she was going to pull through and to consider stoping all meds and shutting off the resperator. Before that decision could be made she passed away on her own... Remember Terry was a revision. I loved her and will continue to love my friend Terry. She was full of life and wanted to have a better life through this operation. Please pray for her family left behind... Blessigs, T

Guest guest
Dear , I have no words to even try to take away your pain. I can only console you in the fact that she is now free. She may not even know that things went wrong. She may have just awoken in her new thin healthy body that is free from pain. That is what I like to think. :-) I wish I could be there to give you a hug, but I can send you one here (((HUG))) Re: T friend RNY revision died > Dear Friends, > Three months ago I wrote to you all telling you about my friend Terry > who after fighting for a long time for a DS settled for an RNY. Guest guest
~ I am so sorry to hear about your friend. May I be so insensitive to ask if the doctor LEFT the staples in? I'm being revised from a vbg to ds on January 8th and my surgeon is leaving the staples and cutting just OUTSIDE of the staple line. He said this way there is no chance of leakage from that specific area. It saddens me that we are so desperate for relief from this cursed obesity that despite the risk of death we go on nonetheless. I will pray for your departed friend and for the healing of both you and her family. In sisterhood, Sandy K. Guest guest
Dear : My heart goes out to you and Teris' family. Know that she is at rest now, with God. My sincerest sympathies to you and her family. I think we should all take a couple minutes out for reflection and remembrance, which I will do at midnight tomorrow night, Eastern Standard Time. When I hear these things I guess my feelings of sadness are for the family not the patient because the patient is in heaven now. I am getting ready to have my surgery on the 8th and I have been asked several times what I think about dying and I guess I am at peace with it, even though my family worries about it. Don't feel sad- she has a new body and more peace and love and joy with God than she could ever have imagined on earth. Being overweight we have endured some of the worst heartache that anyone should have to endure. Starting from grade school jokes to the self hatred we do to ourselves while trying to starve ourselves to a 'socially acceptable' size. I guess my point is that we should not feel so sad, except for the parents and family.
