Guest guest
I'd need your age to tell you the exact number, but I put in age 30 and came up with this. You burn 1466 calories a day just living and breathing. That's doing nothing at all - not even getting out of bed. So DON'T go below that number or you'll slow you motabolism. If you are only slightly active you'll burn 1979 calories a day, subtract 500 from that (1479) and you should loose a pound a week. The more active you are the more calories you burn - so the numbers get higher. Ang > I have a question for anyone who knows the answer. How many calories > should I eat a day in order to lose weight? I weigh about 150 ish > and I am 5'4 " . I would like to get down to 130. I think I read > about x your ideal weight by 10. Guest guest
Barb, I totally have that side effect. I am wearing big cushy socks around the house, and old soft sneakers and socks outside of the house. I have found that foot massages with a peppermint and rosemary foot lotion quite helpful. It's probably not even the lotion that's helping, though it is nice. It could be just the foot massage from a semi-willing spouse. Guest guest
Thanks, . At least I know its not something to flip out about. I can live with it. I can get a massage during the next chemo so maybe I'll try that on da feet. How did #4 go for you? Barb Re: Question Barb,I totally have that side effect. Guest guest
Thanks for asking, Barb. I'm doing not too badly <G> - there's a place on the wound, only about an inch of it, which isn't healing up yet and is infected, but the antibiotics are fixing that up. There's no pain along the wound itself, and a lot of that area is still quite numb. They say this is normal, and I'm quite glad of this numbness, as I don't feel it when they clean and re-dress the infected place. My left arm has limited movement still, and I can't have radiotherapy until I can lift the arm above my head, so I have exercises and physiotherapy to help with that, but the arm aches a bit and hurts if I try to move it much. No swelling, though, which is good. After the surgery, I had two drains in place, and they were removed after a few days when I wasn't leaking too much. But then my side kept filling up with fluid - weird, like a water-filled balloon - and three times I had to go back and have the fluid removed with a big syringe! I was so glad that my side was still numb from the surgery - I didn't feel it a bit. <G> After my 4 A/C I had 4 Taxol - good luck with yours. I had 10 Navelbine after the Taxol - do you know if you have anything after Taxol? And my lump shrank (? funny word ?) from 10 cms to 2.75 cms. It works, so we can put up with the side effects, right? I'm just glad to know its normal?? Hands are doing okay, just the feet at this point. My dh has peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage due to heavy belt--34 years as a police officer) so at least if I get that, it will give me greater sympathy for what he has been going through for years. Just one more thing to tell the onc about. How are you doing after surgery? Barb RE: Question Yes, Barb, I had the red peeling hands and feet during my first set of chemo drugs - doxorubicin (Adriamycin) and cyclophosphamide. I wore cotton socks, and every night they came away full of skin. Yuk. I had to wear my wedding ring on a chain round my neck because my hands hurt too much. I tried a cream called Betnovate (betamethasone valerate) on prescription, and another one called Eumovate (clobetasone butyrate) over the pharmacy counter - they are both corticosteroids - both helped but neither of them fixed it completely. The skin on my feet and hands got nearly back to normal once that chemo was finished. I don't think Taxol had that effect ... not on me anyway. What Taxol did (apart from the bone pain and the baldness) was it gave me peripheral neuropathy - it killed off the nerves in most of my toes and in my fingertips. That was last September, October, November, and I haven't got them back yet. 8-( My chemo nurse said "Most people get them back sooner or later ..." Guest guest
I think that is the key.... we can put up with the side effects when the treatment is working. Glad to hear you are healing and the antibiotics are working. The arm should come back with the exercises. I had to go through that twice and both times it did. Mastectomy was in March and things are still numb. I assume from the response of my surgeon some of it might or might not come back.... I just wait and see. Glad you had the fluid drained. For me they thought it was another tumor (thought I had one, but one was fluid filled). I should be having radiation at the same time as Taxol and then, unless I'm not getting the whole story or something new shows up, I should be done. We'll see as I know some ladies here have had things changed as they went along. I'll just be glad to be done with the A/C after 1 more treatment. Guest guest
This is a question from my dad. He was on 2 1/2 grains naturethroid. Found out he had a rt3 problem. Now he is on 4 cynomel tabs a day. His theory is that if he fixes his reverse t3 problem then he would only need still 2 1/2 grains of NT because the t4 that was converting into rt3 would now convert to t3. I say to him he will probably need more. So what is the answer. Sky
