Guest guest
Hi- I had posted this on the thyroid group, but i thought it may be more appropriate here.... Hi- I'm on the adrenals group, but new to this group. Thanks for all you do here! On the adrenals group they had said that I have a rT3 problem, which explains why i have severe flare ups every time i attempt to get onto desiccated thyroid. I am currently not on any thyroid meds and 27.5 mg HC. For the past 3 months, my temps are stable (but low) the first half of my cycle and not the second half. They said to consider that " stable " and to proceed with T3 only meds. The only concern from the group moderator was my serum ferritin reading (i will post labs below)...if it was high due to inflammation, rather than actually being at a good level. (I did not have an iron panel done in recent bloodwork). *** I'm still learning about the rT3 issue, but my main question is if i need to wait to start T3 until i have an iron panel done (to determine if actually good or just high due to inflammation), or if i should just start on T3 now and see how I do on it? *** If I do start it, I would ask my doc for 25 mcg Cytomel (generic?)and then how many tabs per day would i request? Should I go with generic or pay the extra for the brand name? Here are some of my labs: TSH 1.48 (.45-4.5) free T4 1.03 (.82-1.77) free T3 2.3 (2.0-4.4) reverse t3 176 (90-350) testosterone less than .2 estradiol 74.7 (43.8-211.0) progest 6.0 (1.7-27.0) dhea 4.9 (60.9-337.0) cortisol 12.9 (6.2-19.4)...actually taken in afternoon cholesterol 291 (100-199) vit D 9.9 (32.0-100.0) ferritin 289 (10-291) B12 1533 (211-911) I have increased Vit. D to 10,000IU, and stopped iron. I have decreased B12 quite a bit. My ferritin had been 24, and i have been taking a lot of iron over the past year (150-200 for 6-7 months, and 50-100 before that). Thanks so much for your help. tammy
