However, I don't know how or if you can make butter from goat milk: I hear it's naturally homogenized. ***Heidi, I'm drinking warm raw goat's milk with a little of my brother's home collected honey as we speak. It's truly delicious! I think the phrase " ...in the land of milk and honey " must be referring to goat's milk. It IS naturally homogenized (at least the stuff I get), and i've been wondering if I can still make butter out of it...anyone tried? You can make butter from goat's milk, but I think you have to heat it and/or use a mechanical separator. You should be able to find some information with a web search. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. Guest guest
Suze, Goat's milk lacks a certain factor that cow milk has that causes the fat to clump together and thus separate and rise to the top. I've read that if you mix a little raw cow milk into goat milk, the natural clumping agent in cow milk will cause the cream in goat milk to separate and rise to the top. If you're not opposed to cow milk, it's worth a shot to get some nice mostly goat butter without paying a couple hundred bucks for a cream separator. ine
