Guest guest
I also just read this in the newspaper; just yesterday in fact. It said someone (I can't recall what agency) has recommended making these three antihistamines OTC because of their safety. Guest guest
, I ( in Pa.) was the one that mentioned those drugs. I have been reading newspapers and listening to the news and there is a move by an American HMP to request that these drugs be changed from a prescription to non-prescritpion status. Yes, when I fill my Allegra 180 mg (60 pills as I am on it twice a day) and the monthly claritin for my son, the bill is about $170. If I add to it the singular my son and I both take the bill climbs to $270. Luckily, the singular is something we both take when needed so a month prescription will last several months over the winter. We are reaching a point in my family where the drug bills are as high as the food bills - face value - of course I am reimbursed by my insurance. If they remove these drugs from the prescription list and do not drop the price, I am in trouble. If I find the exact article and can figure how to link it I will send it. Since drug companies are not regulated in the US, the government cannot force them to make a drug over the counter. It will be several years for the lawyers hammer this out and this happens so don't panic yet. in Pa. > >Reply-To: urticaria >To: <urticaria > >Subject: Re: For - Alena's Mom >Date: Fri, 11 May 2001 17:53:49 -0500 > >Where did you hear about Zyrtec, Allegra and Claratin being over the >counter.
