Is a potato a carb?

I know this seems like a dumb question, but NT seems to class potatoes as

separate from grains. I'm trying to lose a few pounds and increase energy, so

I've decided to try restricting my carb intake (no sugar, white flour, and

limited whole grains) So, on my new plan are potatoes a no-no? I love them,

but I've always heard that they make you fat!
