Guest guest
As always, good point Lou! I once weighed 500 pounds. At one time I was " only " 100 pounds overweight. What if I had weight loss surgery then? My poor old body might never have endured 300+ extra pounds if I had it then. Regardless of weight, WLS is a decision to make based on health and values. Sure, it's hard to read that someone who weighs 200-something has been approved, but the real problem is the insurance companies that aren't approving it for the heaviest, not the ones that are approving it for the lightest. I do think that there's a need for special lists for those of us who were at the highest weights. Lou, Barron, and I have had problems some of you haven't had. Our adjustment is different. Sometimes I hear someone who was only " a little " overweight go on and on about some minor cosmetic problem and I kind of laugh. If only they could see my thighs! Someone gave me a gift certificate to Famous Barr. I went there and was angered to see that the plus size women's clothing was tucked in the basement, away from all of the other clothing. I complained to the manager, who didn't seem to get the point. I guess it's not my problem anymore. I ended up buying 5 shirts from the " regular " clothes in XL. Why anyone without a gift certificate would buy clothes from a store that segregated them in a basement like they were lepers is beyond me. Anyway, I'm off to my wound care appointment. I will be so glad when these wounds are finally a thing of the past!
