Hi Barb; In answer to your question, the HAE site is that of hereditary angioedema. There are several types of angioedema and mine is considered chronic idiopathic since it does not go away.Although there is the possibility that it is hereditary since my father has had swellings. If one has HAE there is a 50% chance that your children will have it. Urticaria and angioedema very often go together. Angioedema is the swelling part of the condition where the face tongue lips throat eyes stomach and other areas swell as well as severe stomach stabbing pain attacks. This week for example I had face and lip swelling on Monday, then Wednesday my tongue swelled and last night I was up all night with the terrible stomach pains and urticaria. Urticaria is very defined wheals, more or less on the upper layers of skin, angioedema includes deeper layers.A blood test measuring C1 inhibitor indicates if one has HAE. The test would measure low on the scale.

About the dye allergy, yes I do react to food colourings and certain clothing dye.

Take Care Eleanor

Re: Re: HAE and newspaper ink

Eleanor and all - I have heard of many things from our group, but what is the HAE site? and, Eleanor... is it possible that you are only allergic to certain inks, not all? Have you looked into that? Barbara

.. I use to think I was the only one that had this weirdness but have found out different on this line and the HAE site. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~If you do wish to unsubscribe then you can click on the following link: urticaria-unsubscribeegroups~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~This list is in the service of those who suffer from Chronic Urticaria (hives).
