Guest guest
Update on root canal: After " talking " with several dental-icus people, I made the rounds of Dentist, Endodontist and Oral Surgeon. All agreed the tooth had to be remedied and since I was so reactive to everything, was referred to Oral Surgeon for removal. The complicating matter was the toxic level of Doxepin in my system. According to my Oral Surgeon, when a tri-cyclic anti-depressant is combined with pain the person will have a " chemical " version of pheocromocytoma. And of course I did. My heart would immediately jump to 130 - 140 beats per minute. My blood pressure would go from a normal of 120/80 to 190/110 - 180/120 and stay for hours or minutes. All the other symptoms of severe chest pain, dilated pupils, tremors, flushing, etc. were all there too! The oral surgeon wouldn't tough me until I had a " pheo " test run (24 hr. urine). (a long scary story about 3 visits to ER for hypertensive shock). Anyway, because I still have doxepin in my system (poison control says half life is 3-5 days, and weeks to get it all out), I've not been able to take any antibiotics for the tooth. Had the tooth removed. Felt fabulous! The anesthetic (xylocaine) also took away my hypersensitivity to odor. Unfortunately the effect only lasted one day. As it stands now, 6 days post-op, the tooth socket is still sore and I have hives as bad as ever. My guess is the infection has not been taken care of, and will see the oral surgeon tomorrow about scraping the socket and hopefully the doxepin is gone so I can take meds. Regardless of the cause of my CU, the tooth was never properly canalled, the endodontist broke a file and left it in the tooth, the root was never properly packed and the tooth had to come out. By the way, did I see a mention of tonsillitis? My tonsils are swollen and sore all the time. Thanks, Jeanne
