<<< Is anyone else having trouble keeping the weight down on NT?

Sonja >>>

Hi Sonja,

Yes, a little. The jeans were getting pretty uncomfortable. I was probably

going overboard with with all the yummy food. I've started to exercise more,

which I needed to do anyway. Also, I'm trying to cut back on the carbs a

little more. I'm probably not overweight by many people's standards, just

always wishing I were ten pounds lighter. Even if I'm a little chubbier it's

probably worth it. I'm thinking the raw milk, cod liver oil, evening

primrose oil & borage oil have worked a virtual miracle on my menstrual

cycle (sorry men, I know you don't want to here about female troubles). My

last cycle came as a total surprise! It's been a big relief. I'm hoping it

continues. I was on the verge of desperation, I was even thinking of going

to a doctor. Actually the absence of bloating helped me feel less fat. Even

so, I'd still love a magic pill that would make me lose ten pounds!

No, I'm losing (not fast though).

How much concentrated carbs are you eating? Cut back.

How much discrete fat? It amazes me when I hear folks talking about

eating bunches of fat seperately. Yes, it's great energy food, great

fat-soluble vites etc...but it's also 9 calories a gram, and my

metabolism at least can't handle it.

How much raw veggie are you getting?

What is the argument for primrose and borage oil being " traditional " ?

*nods*

us men have enough female troubles as it is!

Just a small FYI, the reason to take evening primrose and borage is

because they contain GLA, and converting from LA (the base omega-6

fatty acid) to GLA is a very slow an inefficient process for the same

reason that converting from LNA to EPA and DHA on the omega-3 arm is

an inefficent process - they both require the D6D enzyme. However,

just as animal fats have the EPA and DHA preformed, they also have

DGLA and AA on the omega-6 arm preformed. So there is no need to

supplement with GLA if you get ample animal fats.

the WAP site has a good article on this:

<tongue in cheek>Obviously you haven't been involved in the

naturopathy movement long enough. If you call it a " healing crisis " ,

you never need to feel guilty again. You can even beat the kid half

to death and call the symptoms " healing crisis from physical

psychotherapy " . Remember, our ancestors thrived on half-spoiled food.

But god forbid that any raw milk was used in the recipe and the kid

threw up in school. That might be considered grounds for child abuse!
