Welcome Virginia, this is a great place for support... why don't you tell us

a bit about yourself and what your goals are? Do you have a particular plan

you are thinking of following, or are you hoping to find some ideas from

others in the group?

A bit about me and my plan...

I am Jette, 30 years old, 5'7 1/2. I joined the group at 285 pounds in

April, and have lost 34 pounds so far. I started out making small changes to

my diet and exercise, and eventually worked up to my current plan, which

includes 3 30-minute exercise sessions a week, and calorie-counting using

www.fitday.com (1700-2300 per day).

Hmmmm. Follicular Neoplasm. Gang, I don't want to scare her, but this term is meant only to mean Follicular cancer cells of the thyroid, right? Not just a nodule, but this particular type of cancer cell found within the nodule. The word neoplasm, I believe, DOES mean a growth with cancerous cells in it. I'm wondering why he told you that it is possibly harmless, with this term in diagnosis? With thyroid cancer, the whole thyroid is ALWAYS removed, and if you have a multinodular thyroid that can't be changed and it's causing so many problems, it is generally removed. What were your lab results, etc.....and did you have antibody testing, Frees testing? What was the diagnosis as the cause of these thyroid problems?

, I'm answering through your message because, for some reason, I haven't received the original one from her yet. Yahoo is going whacko aGAIN.

HI

Hi I am new to the chat. I am 35/f. The past couple of weeks have been a whirl wind for me. I have had many of the symtoms that are listed on your inro page for a long time and finally my OBGYN found out why. I have been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year and 1/2 now and he decided to check my thyroid. He felt a lump. He had me go for an ultrasound and found there are four. The largest is a little over 2 cen. He had me go for a biopsy and they found that the nodules are follicular neoplasm and I have to have them removed becuase they can not tell if they are binign or not. I meet with the surgeon on Thursday. I have so many questions I am not sure what to ask first. Is depression and anxiety linked to this. I feel like I am going crazy at times. I am usually a very active person. I love doing sports and others activities. But i tire so easily. I was on the pill for a very ling time and got off it well, almost two years ago. I felt myself changing soon after that. My doctor said my body just needed get back to "normal" but I have just gone down hill. So, i put up with it for a little while but it just got worse. The past year has been getting more difficult. I am always tired. I don't feel good at all. I have anxiety attacks or get really depressed for no reason. The specialist said that the surgeon will decide on whether he will take out half the thyroid or the whole thing. Is there any questions I should ask the surgeon about which one is better? I guess I am just scared. My experiences with surgery are not good. I don't want to have to do this again. (if he only takes half then I have more problems.)Sorry so long, I guess I just need someone to talk to who has had this experience. Thanks for reading(listening :))Love to hear from anyone. UUUMMM if I remember from my medical terminology classes a neoplasm is definetly cancer and itf it matasizes it means it is spreading. So yes you are right it is definetly cancer. I even looked it up in my medical dictionary /encyclopidia and yup it's cancer in no uncertain terms. Tina wrote: Hmmmm. Follicular

Hi Kathy,

uhmmm, did I read this right, He is testing you every two weeks and

adjusting the dosage every two weeks????? Is he really doing this???

Might I ask you what his training is in??????????????????What

specialty he practices under?

NO, NO, No, NO.. one does not change a dosage every two weeks...it

takes 6 to 8 weeks for the body to fully absorb and adjust to each

and every change in dosage of Synthroid or any other Thyroid

medicine...No wonder you are having problems with sleep and heart

palpatations....And the fact that you are weaning yourself off of

another drug at the same time, causes even more stress on the body.

What swings of TSH is he talking about??? Did you test really low in

the TSH test sometime in the recent past?

Did he ever check you for the Thyroid antibodies tests???

Did he ever test you for Adrenal fatigue???

Did he ever test you for Glucose intolerance?

Did he test you for Folic acid levels?

Did he test you for Ferritan levels?

Did he test you for CBC's?

gaghhhh...okay I'll go rant somewhere else before I offend

anyone...I'm climbing down off of my rant box....

I'm sorry if I offended.

You did not offend me. I agree, testing every two weeks, and dosing every two weeks is NOT good. Imo, this could cause serious problems. Imo, lab tests sooner than 6 weeks are not helpful.

Best wishes to you Kathy. Remember, you are your best advocate. We are here to help and support in any way we can. A new doctor may be in order, or at the very minimum a discussion in regards to this testing and changing dosage every two weeks.

It is possible that while you are pregnant, any medication you are on can hurt the baby. The best thing for you to try and do is to wait until you are healthy to conceive. I know that may be terribly hard to do but with moms that are hypo, it can really really hurt us or kill us being pregnant. We can also have miscarriages or children who are slow developed or deformed. The baby can also be hypo as well.

When you are normal and pregnant you have hormone fluxes at the drop of a hat and with being hypo they happen worse. The most hypo I was in my life was when I was pregnant... however, there are a lot of people who have healthy babies that are hypo, they just have to monitor the dosage very very carefully and get blood drawn like clockwork and watch the baby, etc.

You need to switch docs because they are ignoring the problems you have. You don't want it to turn into cancer or block off your windpipe before they start treating you. You have a right as a living human being to want the best for your life. Switch docs and go tell them to jump in a murky lake. I have no patience with stupid doctors.

Feel empowered... for no other reason than because you should.

How are you feeling?? The labs to me look like you're short on T3... The T4 isn't looking bad.... but if you aren't feeling good... that T3 is what needs to come up.... either by increasing the T4, adding T3, changing to natural or seeing what you might do to improve conversion...

poopy docs...
